My friend wants to give me a hedgehog and I really want it. But she said it is very noisy and always scared of people. I think it is maybe because of small cage? Because I CAN buy the hedgehog a new cage. PLEASE ANSWER ME !
Your friend hasn't properly socialized it with people. That or they must of done something to it to make it scared of people.
You can buy a bigger cage for it this way it has more room to move around. Make sure it has an exercise wheel as well. Since it's scared of people make sure you have a few hide outs it can run into. Put the cage somewhere away from too much noise/rooms whose temperature changes, away from bigger animals (cat's and dogs), and too much lighting (near a wall opposite to a window will do). Also make sure you leave it alone for 3-5 days this way it can get used to its new environment.
You might not be able to fully fix it's fear of people. But you might be able to make it less timid by slowly trying to hand feed it treats it'll love (fruits, meal worms, etc). Just hold the treat at the front of the cage and let it come to you. It might take awhile. Also make sure you don't hover over the cage. It will intimidate them.
I'm pretty sure they are nocturnal so it's gonna be noisy during the night. Give him something to burrow in for him to be comfotable. To make it more friendly try hand feeding him, but don't chase him around just let him come to you. It's obvious that the bigger the cage the better. Buy the biggest cage you can afford.
Hedgehogs belong in the wild, not as pets. It would hate it's life indoors because it won't have the freedom of moving about in the open fresh air. Even getting a bigger cage wouldn ' t help. It would be a waste of money anyway, your not going to be able to pick it up or stroke it and they must be pretty boring to look at. Please find a suitable environment away from roads to let it go. It's the kindest thing to do. Good for you though for wanting to help an animal but don't plan on getting another wild animal.
I would start by getting the hedgehog a large spacious cage with room for him to wander and play in.

The cage must be big enough to add a bed and toys and for him to run around in.
If you use a wire cage, make sure it has a plastic bottom and that the wires are not small enough for him to get his feet stuck or large enough for him to get his head stuck. You can get some pretty cool bags for them too that they like to snuggle up in.
Make sure that you put the cage in a quiet area of your house so he does not get scared of loud noises.
Give him treats and cuddles and I'm sure in no time he'll be happy!

Good luck!:)
Oh my god Shan O you are SO ignorant! If you release an African pygmy hedgehog into the wild environment it will DIE. Its from Africa, not the states, and FYI doesn't even exist in the wild because its a hybrid!
Some hedgehogs are naturally unfriendly, but plenty of handling can overcome that. If you want the wee guy then get him, just make sure you have time to handle and tame him! They can be noisy at night though so don't keep him in a bedroom.
Buy him a much larger cage which is nice and cosy with bedding and stuff. Leave him for a few days and then take him out and interact. Hedgehogs (if he is an official captive bred one) do well in human contact if treated right. Good luck

Give him a big cage with lots of hiding places and snugglies. Hedgehogs love toilet paper toys and rolling balls, among other toys. Give him a small treat whenever you see him. Speak gently.
Hedgehogs are not pets and should not be caged. It's scared of people because it's a wild animal. Find the right environment and let it go.
Ok this is what to do buy him a new cage (bigger) and just dont let him get stressed or leave him alone for long time if he runs dont chanse around after him feed him care for him ... etc and he will change
Obviously he needs new running sneakers.
And maybe a chili-dog would help, too.
Give him a hedge to hog.
