Do mice make good pets?

if it is raised right (not just a feeder from a pet store) it can be a great pet. for 2 years or less. they don't live past 2 to 2 1/2 yrs. I breed mice for my snakes food, but have a couple as pets too. they do not bite if you let them get used to your smell and hands touching them. they are always trying to figure out a way to escape their cage, so get a glass aquarium with screen lid that clamps down good. a 5 gallon tank works for 1-2 mice, a 10 gallon tank for more than 2.
I wouldn't recommend them, especially for young children. Mice are nervous, energetic, delicate animals that really don ' t tolerate handling well. It's possible to tame them, but it takes a lot of patience and you need to be lucky enough to find one with a naturally calm temperament.

The plus side is that they are very curious, playful, and entertaining to watch. They also don't take up much space and are inexpensive to care for. I think you should consider other small rodents first, but if you understand their limitations mice can be enjoyable pets.
It depends on what you define as a good pet. Mice are relatively easy to care for and don't take a lot of space. They also breed prolifically, which can be either good or bad (again , depending on your preferences). Mice can bond with you and learn some simple behaviors as well. I think that mice can make an excellent introduction to pet care taking for children.
If you have ferrets around. Don't even think about it. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
