rabbit pulling fur out?

My rabbit just had babies. Their 5 days old. She pull the fur out of her chest to make a nest. She pulled it out all the way to the skin. Now it looks like a raw area. It even looks like the skin with fur is slipping. What is going on? I'm very worried. This is our 1st litter of babies. She had a litter before we got her. Is this normal? What should we do?
This is very normal.Females pluck their fur off their chest and belly to line their nest. The fur lining will help keep the babies warm. This is good because most inexperienced mothers don't even construct a nest. As for the the raw patches the fur will grow back. You don't need to do anything as long as shes nursing and caring for the kits they'll be fine.To make sure shes feeding the kits their little belly should be round and smooth not wrinkely and flat.
Mama rabbits ( does) pull the hair from their chest to line their nests. Its perfectly normal. It grows back. You need to also provide her with some hay to line her nest with. I'd suggest getting a good book on pet rabbit care if you are new to this. Rabbits are not low maintenance animals and require a lot of special care to maintain good health. Congratulations on the kits.
Thanks for everyone's help. We're feeling better already. She had 7 kits. They ' re doing great. I did do some research on-line before she had them. The information said that she would pull fur from her chest and stomach area, but it didn't say anything about about the spot becoming raw. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Again, thanks for the help.
Yes, she is just being a great mom, and keeping her babies warm! Some mama rabbits hardly pull out any fur, but then others get carried away, and go almost bald! Don't worry though, it sounds like everything is going great!

Hope this helps! Good luck with your baby bunnies!
