Why is it if you get an animal from a pet store you buy it,

Why the two different words? I know the pet store isnt the best place to adopt but you still get your animal the same way you would if you went to a shelter. So why use two different words?
There is no difference, shelters just want it to seem more warm and fuzzy ... if i hand over money and get a pet that is buying, not adopting ... i was adopted as an infant and no one paid money for me ...
BUY: a pet that has never been owned ... they where either sent to the pet store by a breeder (usually a cage breeder) which are not GOOD breeders!!!

ADOPT: An animal that previously had a home, and for what ever reason was handed over to the shelter to care for them and find them a new home!
When you but from a pet store you are supporting mills and the pet store gets a profit. When you adopt you are saving an animal and the shelter does not get a profit. The money goes to paying staff and supplies for other animals.

Please adopt from a shelter.
Hmm I see what you are saying but I guess the difference is a pet store your money is profiting a company, where with adoption usually that fee is covering their expenses.
Because the pet store raises the dog to sell for profit pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

shelter get the rejects and adopts them at a price to cover costs.
Pets stores get a profit. Rescues get no such thing.
