We found a cute little white rat outside our house the other day and we were told to catch it so it did not die in the winter .. But I haven't seen in a day and I need help catching it (without a live trap ) it is a domestic rat. So any advice would be great (It lives under our porch in the front yard)
Why no live trap? If it's simply because you don't have one, then do this:
Get a bucket that's at least 12 "tall.
Either put it next to a stair that is level with the bucket, or make a ramp going up to the rim with a log or the like.
Put yummy smelling food such as peanut butter, cat food, fruit, etc. In the bottom of the bucket.
Ratty will go into the bucket after the food, but wont be able to get back out until you rescue him/her.
That is a live trap of sorts, but I hope it's what you were looking for.
