Exterminators your opinion please or anyone who has dealt wi

I lived in my place for over 6 years a new tenant moved in under me she had bed bugs unknown to me at that time she had cats about 6 of them which the landlord made her get rid of. The landlord didn't exterminate professionally for over a year from the onset of the bed bug infestation.

I want to know do you think i should throw out my infested furniture and mattresses or should i allow the exterminator to spray and cover them and hope that the bugs die and we get relief from this nightmarish hell of bed bugs?

i have spoken to 3 exterminators all of them give me different advice so i want more advice or someone who has dealt with bed bugs.? thanks
I'd try the treatment approach first. As the editor of the http://www.bed-bugs-handbook.com I'm familiar with all of the treatment approaches.

The key to bed bug treatment is to be thorough and to be sure that adjacent apartments were treated as well.

The mattress and box spring are easy to treat, as the use of sprays, bed bug dust followed by the covering of the mattress and box spring will be enough to save both. Cover or dispose of the pillow.

Furniture can also be treated with a knock down spray (contact spray) and a residual or longer lasting spray.

Items in your drawers should either be washed in hot water, placed in a freezer for 2 weeks or placed in the dryer for 30 minutes. If items can't be treated, such as a clock radio, I'd lean to disposal.

Detailed treatment information is in the resource.
Well my friend had bedbugs and with the first infestation, it was quite severe and she did have to get rid of her bed and sofa ... she had to hot wash and hot dry everything ... the apartment was sprayed, she had to stay out ... she wrapped her new mattress in a special cover that is to keep out bedbugs ... she did get bedbugs again and they sprayed, she did not lose any furniture and touch wood they are gone ... whether you should throw out your furniture would depend on whether you can replace it, how bad the infestation is ... if there have been bedbugs for a year you might want to go new, but go new after your place has been sprayed ...
