Rabbit question!!! Please help ??!!?
I read online that if you have a cat/s you have to clip their nails to just before the arch so that they can't injure the rabbit. I don't want to clip my cats' nails I don't think it's right. My rabbit is going to be in an indoor pen with a top. So it will be safe from my cats and their nails. Do you think I'm wrong?? What would you do if you were me?

You have to be EXTREMELY careful having a rabbit and a cat together. Whilst some cats will get on perfectly with rabbits, it is a cats instinct to kill them. Usually its cats who are around rabbits when they are kittens that will be okay with rabbits. You need to spend some time with the rabbit and cat to see if they will get on together. You will have to have the ability to restrain the cat should it attempt anything on the rabbit. If it doesn't work fairly soon, it is unlikely to work at all.
Cutting a cats nails will help if the cat takes a swipe at your rabbit but the cat will still cause damage and if you are not there to stop the cat, it can still easily kill your rabbit . pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
You say that you don; t want to clip your cats nails but surely you should be thinking of the welfare of your rabbit, which could get very baldy hurt/killed, over your cat ... which won 't have proper nails ...
If I were you, I wouldn't have a cat (But obviously that's stupid cos your not gunna get rid of your cat!: P) I think the best option is to keep them away from each other.
This article you read is wrong. Clippping your cat's nails won't save your rabbit if your cat wants to kill him. The best way to keep your rabbit safe is to never leave them unnatended, and to train your cat to leave the rabbit ablone if you feel he might be aggressive.
I feeel it is unwise to leave ANY prey animal alone with a natural preadator - no matter how much you trust them.
its best to clip your cats nails because if they are clipped there's less of a chance that the cat will claw you bunny in the eyes! the same thing happended to me my bun was just hoping then my cat got in and clawed.
Its not a good idea to have a cat and rabbit out togther if not supervised closely. Cats carry stuff in there suliva that if they get into a rabbit it can make them very sick or even die.
about a year ago i had a cat and 2 rabbits and all my cat done was look at the rabbits and walk away but i never used to clip her nail! hope i helped: D. x.
You have to clip cat's claws so they don't injure themselves. If their nails are too long they will be painful as they start to curl, making standing uncomfortable.
I grew up with cats and rabbits. We never had a problem with the cats attacking the rabbits .. I think you should be okay since the rabbit will be in a pen.
