Have nerves ever got the best of you at a show?
Just curious. What happened and how did you deal with it?
At my last show i was so nervous i did the entire jump course wrong and got DQed. It was mega embarassing. I have another show coming up in March and now im even more nervous im going to screw up the course again!
Anyways, when have nerves got the best of a YOU at a show? I would love to hear some funny stories :-)
well I have been so nerves i was crying my horse would not stand still she steeped on my chaps and ripped them. it was sooooo embarrassing.
Nope. Lol. Most of my shows have gone impeccably well.
The biggest issue besides knocking poles over in pole bending has been...
One time I was barrel racing in a PLEASURE saddle, and around the second barrel my horse took a weird step and i flew up out of the saddle and came back down on the saddle horn. I'm not a guy, but that shiznit HURT like a mofo.

I thought I would never be able to have children.
I ran a very competent barrel horse decades ago. The problem was that he would be in the money if I ran the perfect pattern. Not him, he knew what he was doing. But it was my first year, and I made mistakes. So my stomach would churn all day long. I lived off of graham crackers.
Here is what helped me the most and it will help you from making the mistakes too. Visualization.
Picture that perfect ride. Ride it out in your imagination over and over again. Sit in the vehicle, close your eyes, and picture the pattern, count the strides, and literally ride it stride for stride. I even move my hips to get the rhythm. Picture your course, close your eyes and ride it.
