What's your worst riding habit when you're on a horse? For me, I am horrible at doing straight-line halts. I can do a normal halt fine, but I just have a horrid tendency to pinch with my knee and lift out of the saddle when doing a straight-line halt.

I want to look at the jump as I go over it. Especially ditches. IDK why. I think I want to see how deep it actually is or something lol. But it's getting a lot better. I hardly ever do it anymore.

i tilt forward from the hips. Though I have found my new saddle makes this much harder, and my seat is looking much better :-)

Lifetime of owning and riding horses

Whenever I get real focused on my horse, I start to hunch my shoulders and put my chin down. That's why I now use a brace to remind me to sit up!

I look down instead of where I want to go. Very bad habit. Especially in dressage.

My arms are retarded. I have been out of lessons for YEARS and I have gotten SO sloppy with my equitation. My arms flap sometimes, and sometimes I catch myself holding my hands too high. Also my leg position is crappy sometimes too.

I need lessons. There are NO good western trainers in my area......it sucks.

I have trouble keeping my heels down because of a condition in my ankle that makes it painful to have them lower than in line with the stirrup.

I collapse my left hip and I also drop my left shoulder. It's a really bad habit and it's tough to fix because I cannot feel it at all.

My elbows are never positioned correctly. I'm double-jointed and I can't tell if they are bent all the way or not xD

I always hold my reins funny. I do 'piano hands' instead of having my thumbs on top, I hold them horizontal and then rest my pinkies on the top of the reins instead of having them closed against my palm. I also need to lift my hands and bring them forward.
I also tend to bend my head down during dressage because I'm concentrating so hard!
