I'm considering buying a coming 3 yr old registered oldenburg gelding. He has top bloodlines and has potential for any discipline. I haven't actually gone to see him yet but according to his owner he is easy to handle and has a nice temperament. He's started learning how to lunge but he has not been started. His owner is asking 9500 but she is very negotiable as she needs him gone..(she has another horse and she apparently can't afford both of them as she's still in school). So what I'm asking is if you think her price is reasonable? I don't really want to pay that much for a 2 year old.

well your going to have to train him, or pay someone to do it and his price for what your getting is not that bad but you would really have to be committed to this horse like if you just want him for a trail pony or small shows thats not worth it but if your trying to go some were in horses it might be a good investment.

I would honestly not pay that much for a two year old. If he was a year older, started undersaddle, and a flashy mover... then yes I would pay that much. If he is top notch, has outstanding parents, and fabulous conformation then i'm sure he could be worth 9500 but it's just not something I would pay.

if he is trained yes, but b/c he isn't no way! try to get the owner to lower it to around 5500, idk if you are gonna have him for a while but if you arent train him really good so you can increase his value, and 2 is a good age b/c they have more potential for learning
