7 month old loosing mass amounts of hair?

Alright he had a really severe infection and now that he's all better he's loosing hair like crazy! We had him on 10 days of shots, 3 shots a day and where we were giving them the injections, he's lost a ton of hair, as well on on his knees where the infection was. On his face around his eyes and his chest are starting to go bald as well, he looks like someone's been yanking all his hair out but there's no bite marks.

What would make him loose hair like this? He's itching on trees and the skin is very dry and flakey. He's only loosing hair on his front end and a little tiny bit on his hocks.

Is there anything I can do to help the hair grow back and why is he loosing it in the first place? We asked the vet about it but he said things like that happen sometimes when foals have high fevers and such.
I would call a second vet out for another opinion instead of asking people on Yahoo! Answers. None of us are vets, and if a vet does manage to have the time to come on this silly website they cannot properly diagnose your horses symptoms!
i'm surprised your vet put a foal an antibiotics, it's terribly hard on them, i'd go to a different vet. i had a fabulous creamello QH filly born a couple of years back, when she was about a month old she got a terrible joint infection, tried shots, but the foal just had to be put down. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

anyways, when a horse gets an infection, everything goes, old skin cells, hair, everything because it is no longer healthy, so thats probably why his hair is falling out.
