What do you think of this mare?

So I was looking through horses for sale in my area kinda and I found this nice looking mare .. what do you guys think of her being an eventer? It says she is good at jumping and dressage so I am thinking yes and I wanted to know what you guys think! I was seeing if she would be a good eventer because my barn is a eventing barn ... Thanks, any other stuff would be helpful like conformation!

She's not bad, her hip bones look a bit small to her neck if that makes sense, haha. She could use some more weight on her hind end and a bit more in the stomach. She isn't very leggy though, I mean she is kinda but not at the same time, yknow? Strong looking shoulder and her back is slightly swayed, but that may just be natural for her, not by age. You will need to build up muscle in her for sure. I kinda agree on her neck being too thick, it makes her look disproportioned.

If you can test ride her I'd say go for it! She would probably need good care (which I am sure she will get) and needs to get a bit of a better coat. Although, supplements, brushing and a damp-ish towel could easily fix that unless she has worms. Is that her winter coat? If so understandable. Her temperment is on the verge of being a "hot" horse though, and maybe that is good for dressage and eventing though, but if you use a crop a lot that may set her off. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Anywho, she seems worth checking out, especially if you are interested in buying her. I'd try to test ride her first though. Good Luck!:)

EDIT: That's the word I'm looking for! She looks downhill, and yes draft horses are more for heavy duty work or flashy shows; therefore not generally light on their feet.
Personally, I don't like her at all . From the shoulder forward, she looks like a big heavy draft horse. But from the withers back she looks more like a lighter built TB or something. Kind of like a horse designed by committee! LOL. Plus she looks a bit downhill. I have seen horses with this conformation go on to be good foxhunters if they have a decent jump on them, but I wouldn't choose her for a dressage prospect at all. She looks like she'd ride very heavy on the forehand based on the heavy front end and the angle of her hindquarters which will make it harder for her to "sit" and engage.
Well first of all are you ready for a horse like that and look eventers are more ...... . of an athletic horse like a tb or an irish sport horse? It says she needs exprienced rider which people don't write that lightly as well as her temperment being five which means she probably could be horrible when she is in season. I am a eventer myself and i would say that you would have to many problems with her legs a heavy horse like that would not likely be fast enough for the crosscountry or striking enough for the dressage you may find that she will develop leg problems and may go lame . I would give her a miss she may be cheap but she is not ideal at all try to find a horse that is a more atlethic build
This girl looks kinda long, if you want a good jumper they need to be compact horses (short backed)

otherwise it'll take more outta them to jump. Now a dressage horse comes in many colors so idk what she'd be like there unless i saw her. But get a vet check (before you buy), rider her (before you buy , and a couple times). and make sure YOU like and can afford her. Those are the 4 top things:)
looks like a bit too much on the draft side for an eventer to me. you can tell by her head that she will be a big heavy horse once she has put weight on. and she needs to put quite a lot of weight on (especially muscle on her bum) because right now she looks kind of out of proportion. for an eventer, i would go for a bit of a finer breed. just my opinion
allways get a pre purchase vet check!

i agree with the prvious answerer-shes not bad. looks a little heavy on the front end-you can def see the draft in ger. drafts arent eactly light on their feet .... but i'd have to see her move/jump. you should ask to ride her and see her ridden so you can see how she moves. I'd be interested to see how well she could be "collected ".... she seems a little long chest to tail (my mares issue, but i dont show so i dont care!)

good luck! and dont be put off by the fact that she's a mare-mares can be awesome!
O like her body. They weren't lying she does look like she could be very athletic. I think that her hocks are under her too and its justnot a great photo. The only thing that jumps out at me is her neck. its really thick and that tends to cause trouble bending. That said I like her. i bet with work she would be a good eventer. vet check!
Sounds nice but a little stocky and short legged for alot of jumping. Might want to try her out, see how high she can jump, have a vet check her. I personally would go for somethng more like a thoroughbred .
Heck, I like her. She is stout. Nice hook to her hock, deep chest, and powerful shoulders, and a smart head.
