Hey, so Ive finally worn out my old tipperary, that i got when I first started english riding lessons. (Many years ago).
Im looking for a new helmet! I want to look a little nicer, especially for shows, but just lessons as well.
I do pretty casual shows, just local hunter/jumper shows, as well as fairs.
Some of the fairs have a lot of a circuit riders though.
unfortunately I have a rather limited price range. I really wanted a charles owen, but Thats way over my budget. which is around $ 170 or so.
I was looking at the international Elite helmet. But I am wondering if its too 'jumper' and not 'hunter' styled enough.
I know it doesnt matter much in just local shows, and I just dont want to look silly.
I also dont like the look of the black velvet helmet covers for hunters, so I dont like the option of just covering it.
I get very hot and sweaty when riding and showing, so I want a well vented helmet, and I heard the elites are great for that.

If your budget is 170 ... mabye save up a little more, (loose change adds up!)
Charles Owen Hampton - Classic looking, comfortable ... etc. Worn by many A circut riders ...
Charles Owen GR8 .... subsitute with a JR8 .. looks the same, but a different strap and a lot cheaper. I have seen A circuit riders wearing it as well.
I had a JR8 and a GR8 .. no difference to me! Now, I have a GPA Speed Air, and I show on the As in the hunters ... I like the fitting of the GPA better than the charles owen as I needed to buy one of the inserts for the helmets so it didnt slip - reasoning to why i switched to GPA. You might find out that the CO fits you weird .. and you need to find a different brand .. or model. (Hampton and JR8/GR8 fit differently)
