I fell of my horse. And now I am scared to ride. Help me!?

I fell of my 3 Year old Anglo Arabian (some people are saying my horse is a Thoroughbred) and I fractured my Hand. I was practicing Show Jumping. I am scared to ride again because it might happen again. Maybe my horse got scared. Should I ride again?
Anglo arabian is part TB.

I've been afraid to get back on a horse before, but I got over it. It may take some time to get your confidence back, but it will happen. I'm assuming that you have been riding for a while to be on such a young horse and that you know there is no sure way to prevent yourself from coming off. It's part of riding. Usually you need to get back on the horse IMMEDIATELY after falling, but as you fractured your hand I can see why you didn 't. I once re-injured my tail bone while riding, but I still made sure I got back on (it's partly psychological - I find that if I don't get back on immediately after a fall then I become afraid). It was agony when I was in the saddle tbh, but I wasn't afraid to get back on. I hope that someone else got back on your horse for you, it's bad for a horse to learn that when you fall the ride is over - it encourages bucking. When I come off my mum always asks if I got back on, that's the most important thing for me to do - I don't even know why she asks. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

It can be hard to regain confidence and it may take a while, but it will happen eventually. You'll either have to bite the bullet or hang up the bridle, so to speak. I think that you should just realise that it COULD happen again, but is that fear bigger than your love for riding? The choice is yours, we can't tell you what to do. Personally, I would suck it up and ride again. If the horse has a serious bucking problem or something similar I would work with a trainer. Good Luck.
Unfortunately, falling comes with the territory. I had a bad accident when I fell off my horse 2 years ago and I was in a wheelchair for 2 months. The bottom line is if your fear of getting back on is greater than your desire to ride again, then you may have to consider abandoning the sport. No one can force you to get back on; you have to want to, more than you don't. If you let your fear overtake you, then you will never be able to ride again. As for me, I got back on my horse after 5 months and I am a better rider than ever. Good luck whatever you decide. But, whatever you decide, safety is first!
Ive fallen off plenty of times with jumping. thankfully, i havent seriously injured myself ... pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

but whenever you fall off, you should get back on (both for you not creating a fear issue for yourself, as well as if the horse was acting up, and is rewarded by being put away).

I have fallen off abt 23-24 times. (* 6 times, in one day by a pony named chiripa ... haha-but each time i got back on, and i overcame it ... - the issue i had with chiripa was that she kept dropping her shoulder, and she would catch me off guard on the corners, and one just came after the other ... haha - i ride tht same pony every once and awhile, and it is not a big issue anymore ... all horses can have issues ... just gotta ride thru them, and learn to stick with them ...)

Good Luck (and YES you should ride again!)

=)
Well first of all a three year old isn't the best thing to ride unless you are an experience rider! If you really want to ride horses then keep riding and get over it! Because every single horse rider will fall off a horse if you have taken up this sport. If it happens again well you will become a better rider because the more times you fall off the better rider you become! pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Good luck!
Normally when you fall off a horse you need to get back on it asap, to prevent fear of riding for you and the horse. But if you injured yourself I suggest talking to the horse and stroking it while you saddle up maybe even have someone to steady the horse and do this, within a few minutes of riding you should feel more confidant:)!
Well riding again is really your choice.Every time you get on a horse it is a risk and by getting on a horse you are accepting them. I have never had a bad fall but I know plenty of people who have. If you really want to continue on with riding you're going to have to get on. You don't have to go right back on to jumping maybe just have a nice hack, walk trot even. I honestly think you'll get back on but it is your decision. Feel Better!
First off stop jumping a 3 year old.

Secondly stop being such a woos.

A small child (eight) out fox hunting today for her first time took a nasty fall when her pony tripped and went down. She received a cut on the chin which was bleeding profusely and the kiddie was crying. When she stopped crying it was not because of the cut but because she thought she would have to go home. Two hours later, still bedecked in blood, that kid was still following hounds on her pony.

If you cannot take the rough that goes with riding, don't get on a horse.
Well you own a 3 year old horse so surely if you experienced enough to own such a young horse you've fallen of before? Listen I'm not going to baby you, you bought a green horse so you should have expected to come of and have the experience/confidence to get back on. If you don't you shouldn't own a green horse.
