Showing in english what to do with saddle pads?
We were talking today about saddle pads for english shows , and that they need to be white and white can be . but after several uses they are no longer that way.
what do you do with your white saddle pads when they become to dirty to use for show, or do you have a secret on how to keep them just that clean!
Try to save the white pad just for showing. look at getting a training pad for barn riding. lol im getting florescent blue pads from chicksaddlery :)
also if thats not an option. lol and you cant put it in the wash. heres what you may try :
1: vaccume the pad ( lol gets loose dirt out)
2: Brush it (again lol gets dirt out and makes it poofier)
3: Get some baby powder and powder it, and blow dry the pad alittle so you dont have all that excess powder (Y)

lol thats what i did for my show :)

to keep it clean at shows buy a peice of white material and put it under neith ur pad ( cut the material to match )
also lol carpet cleaner for white carpets works good too for tough stains. but if its stained that bad then you need a new pad :P
I use my show pad only for shows and I wash it after every few shows (or more often if it gets dirty). Bathe and/or groom your horse well before you use the pad so that less dirt gets on it from the horse (especially when they sweat). To keep it really clean underneath, you could use a thin baby pad or liner of some sort between the pad and your horse so that it doesn't actually come into contact with the horse.
I would guess that you can also bleach it in the washing machine just like you can do any other white material.
If it becomes so stained that it's not suitable for showing anymore, then just use it as a schooling pad--since you have to replace those every now and then anyway. Spend your money on a new show pad and just retire your old ones for practicing.
i ride western but when my saddle pads get dirty i vaccume off the loose dirt

& sometimes i wash them in the washing machine it doesnt hurt mine at all & if i cant do that i
hand wash them with the water hose. but just use it for showing & get a different one for riding at home. & since its white you can bleach out the stains in the washer.
Anything that is white or gray around the barn I use bluing agent on when I need it sparkling white (not bleach). Wash your pads before your show but don't use bleach- dilute bluing agent and use that instead. The difference is that bleach usually gives your pads a yellow hue after a while but the bluing agent adds a slight blue hue after a while. A bluish white will always look brighter and whiter than a yellowish white. I've had stuff (including my gray horses) that started out pretty yellow end up paper white using good old Mrs. Stewart's bluing- you can get it at the grocery store for about $3/ bottle in the laundry section.
-only use the show pads for shows pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
-wash them if they get dirty
-keep them in a blanket bag between shows
-use bleach if there are tough stains, or stain remover
i usually use western tack when i ride english (accept at shows, duh), or if i use an english saddle, i use a western pad with it. i always keep my show saddle pads/show saddle blankets in a bag, and i clean them if they get dirty (picking hay/hair/burs off them). its really easy to keep them clean, i have used one saddle pad for the last 4 years, and it is still super white and i have only had to wash it twice
