Is tail blocking reversible?
I just bought a mare that had her tail muscle cut, so not alcohol blocked but cut, can you reverse this or rehab it back to some movement?????
There is no for sure way of reversing it. I have heard of acupuncture to help with the alcohol deadening but there is nothing to be done when the muscles and tendons are cut.

My mare had pretty much the same procedure done. (She has the symptoms but no one really knows what happened. We heard that she had it caught in a door but our trainer thinks she was cut.) It is really not that hard to deal with once you get the routine down. I keep OB gloves on my mare's tail. You can either french braid the whole tail or just the top 6 inches and then down below the tail bone. You rip the middle finger out and then put the tail through the glove. You can put either two or one glove on. When I put one glove on it keeps my mare's legs cleaner. However I do have to fold her extra tail up so that it is under the glove. It worries me that it will cause more breakage so I am kind of experimenting with it. I replace the gloves roughly once a month. Once you get used to it it only takes about 30 minutes to totally wash the tail, remove the poop from the underside of the tail and between the udder, to braid, and to put the gloves on. A good tip is to use baling twine because the urine will eat through bands and the braids as well as gloves will fall out. I put corona ointment on the underside of the tail, the vulva and anal area, as well as between the teats to keep the feces from sticking. It keeps my mare happier. Just email me at painthorselover.nb@gmail.com if you have any questions about the glove method or how to deal with the tail.

Show Saddlebreds routinely have their tails cut. That's how they get the tails to stand up. There is no reversing cutting the tendons and muscles.

Doubtful. Unfortunately your horse will probably never move her tail again. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

There's a broodie at the barn I work at who had her tail blocked.

It's been about 4 years and she still can't move it. She pees on it, poops on it, can't swish flies, and foals all over it.

It's a horrible practice and I don't know how the people who do it can possibly justify taking a horse's use of its tail away for the sake of fashion.
