What is the best thing that has ever happened to you while around horses?
Since there is a predicted snowstorm today i can't ride. :-( I'm pretty upset since i have to wait a whole nother week to ride. So i want some happy horse moments. What is the best thing that has ever happened to you while around horses? It can be bonding, riding, showing, or just watching them run. I appreciate your answers!
answer:
Everytime I am with a horse it's like all my worries about school, friends etc go away and it's like its only me and the horse. For me, I think that is the greatest thing. I tend to worry ALOT about EVERYTHING, and its really hard for me to not always be thinking about things that are stressing me, but when I'm with horses I forget about all that. It's nice to have someone to go to that won't judge or care about how you look, and in my case, horses are this "someone".

I could go on but it's going to get even sappier, so let's just leave it at, that the greatest thing about horses for me is that they are the only thing that take my mind away from my worries.
Two things- I give lessons to a 9 year old girl... And the other day we were both riding around and having fun instead of a normal lesson, and I just saw her click- bing! She never has quite clicked on how to ride, and she is quite timid... But suddenly her horse started walking away from me, and she grabbed the lead rope (We were riding with halters) and steered her confidently in a circle back to me, and trotted halfway. I almost cried, it was just so rewarding. Second, was winning reserve grand champion gymkhana on my appy pony. I have been showing for five years now, and never got 1st in a single speed class until I got this little pony. My first year of 4-h I was riding western pleasure when I saw the speed people practicing patterns. I had no clue what they were doing, but i instantly was in love with gymkhana from that day, and have been trying with a low budget and not a lot of training experience to get good.. I have been showing for five years now, and never got 1st in a single speed class until I got this little pony She is so small, has been abused, was wild in montana for the first few years of her life, and is part arab. Everybody made fun of her, and made fun of me for buying her. This horse is my hero and I will never give her up!
This one pony I ride at school. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
It's really weird on how it happened, because NO ONE else in my class really likes him at all.
On the ground he bites everyone (well tries..) and under saddle only one other girl gets along with him.
With everyone else he's bad and naughty. (even if they're good riders!)
But with me he's always SO good for me and we get along really well, I feel like I can do ANYTHING on him! I also never thought I'd love an ugly little appaloosa so much either =P (he's blue roan with black spots on his rump and a speckly nose)
I have a lot of issues while riding about sitting up, but on him I sit up and don't feel unbalanced or anything! I also don't really like quick horses, but on him I'm FINE.
He was also the first horse I cantered into more than one jump on.
Everything about him just feels so right..
It was my very first riding lesson. I have ALWAYS wanted to ride horses. I begged and begged my parents to let me. I went to camp and I received mail from my parents with a "kinzclip" Clydesdale and a letter saying that the day I get back I have a riding lesson! :D I was soooo excited! It was in the middle of summer and I came in some jeans, a tank top, a baseball cap and rain boots. I met Gora, the most beautiful akhal-teke. After that first lesson, my parents agreed that I could continue on with the lessons. Best day ever :D :D

Sorry about you not being able to ride. My lesson was canceled so no riding today :(
I would say it was the first day I rode the gelding I had started. That moment was just so emotional for me. We had been on such a long, difficult, and often frustrating journey to get to that point. He made me so proud and gave me such confidence in my riding and training abilities, which was sometrhing I was seriously lacking before.

A close second was watching my sister's mare foal. The mare was at a friend's home because they were equipped with a monitoring system and someone was always around to watch her. They called early one morning and told us something was up, but the monitor hadn't gone off. Just as we walked in the barn, Gracie's water broke. We saw the entire thing and I got to touch the umbilical cord while it was still attached (I could feel it pumping with Gracie's heartbeat!). Even though she was a first time mom, Gracie was awesome.
