I know video of the horses stuck in flood waters and trying to get on the roof of a house has made international news footage.

For anyone who has seen it, I wanted to give people an update. I have just seen new footage of their rescue and subsequent care.

They are badly cut and injured from roof iron and fences, some have big gashes and swollen eyes.

They have been treated by a vet over night and all look like they will survive. And have one very happy owner indeed. They were all TB brood mares by the report I saw given.

I must say that the cattle swimming with the horses were also saved.

Although horrible to see their injuries, one good outcome from the current very bad situation ;-)

LQ - What are the worse situations you have seen horses get into during disasters?

Yeah, I've seen it too, two horses trying to lift its heads out of water by leaning their head on the roof. This is probably the worst situation i've seen horses in. You just feel so helpless when you see animals struggle against the flood and you can't do anything but wait and see if they could be rescued.
