Have you ever ridden a horse tackless?
Using a neck ring doesn't count as tackless.
Feel free to share all you want about it :)
answer: Psst, J Alves--natural horsemanship isn't the reason you can ride a horse tackless. Most well-trained horses (using any method) can eventually be ridden that way, if you train for it.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com I've probably hopped on a few and "ridden" without anything, but I'm sure the horse was pretty much doing what it wanted (and that would have been a long time ago).
I rode my old horse bareback and bridleless but I did put a string around his neck:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xoo0yE-xz…The closest I've come with Zip is taking off his bridle and looping the reins around his neck (but using the saddle). I don't have a video of that, but I do have a video where I just tied the reins to the saddle horn and looped a lead rope around his neck (although you can't really see it):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4tG0mVoX… Yeah, but to be fair it was on a VERY safe and steady pony. I ride him tackless every so often, just for sh!ts and giggles. I don't really rely on a bridle when I'm riding so it's much the same, and I certainly don't rely on stirrups any more- they're barely ever on my feet :L

My pony is awesome though, cos he came from a riding school so he just stays on the track most of the time :L it's easy peasy to ride him with no tack! And it's certainly more comfortable :D
Full respect to people who can ride 'real' horses completely tackless- I don't think I could do that. And I can only do walk trot cantar on the track and steer to some extent, I can't do anything fancy like turn on the forehands lol
Yeah my friend dared me to get on this crazy pony in a halter and she said she was going to lead me. I did it as a joke but then she pulled the halter off and he took off bucking. It was fun and I didn't fall but still not the stacy westfall, bond between horse and rider you'd picture.
I have one mare in my barn that I can do this with. I have spent hours working on it, over a period of years. She goes on voice commands and knee pressure. It took a lot of work to bring her to this level. It takes pretty good balance to stay on without stirrups. The mare will actually move to keep me on her back. As with any horse, it takes hard work, practise, conditioning, (both of us) and teamwork. We do not jump, but we do a lot of stuff. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
She has a personality that is very suitable for this. I only do it with one horse. I can trail ride with her a bit, but after an hour or so, we have both really had enough. To do it for more than 20 minutes or so, I really prefer a saddle. So does my mare.
YES I HAVE we have 3 horses mine is a 7 year old male named Shadow. before I got him I had a pony/quarter horse and I would ride her bareback all the time. the best thing was to watch my sister ride hers bareback. she would go galloping through the pasture with nothing but the horses mane. AWSOME I so wish I could.

I road my loan horse tackless for the first time ever yesterday.
Because she's incredibly speedy, I had her in the arena, and lets just say I didn't stay on long...
I was fine :3 Poor Fee was like "more more!"
xD
I plan on doing it again sometime soon :3 It was fun.
I attempted to with my old loan once, just to see what was happening.

He was a greedy sod and we only had a field to do it in - so we spent 10 minutes with him using it as an opportunity to shove grass into his fat face.
Yes, if you train your horse using natural horsemanship they will change gaits and you can direct them where to go using cues other than by reins or a neck strap.
