i am thinking of getting my lip pieced but i also ride, so i was wondering if i could ride With the lip piercing in or if i would have to not ride till it was healed or if i would have to take it out even when it is healed.... and could i just cover it with some tape?

A lip piercing should not really matter but i would take it out just in case that way it doe not get caught on anything.

what kind of piercing are you planning on getting? a ring, monroe? snake bites, i don't think that you should have a problem riding with one, unless it starts to hurt, i think it should be fine. hope this helps ? oh if you show, (english) you may have to take it out, or you could be docked points.

I have snake bites and a septum piercing and I ride my mare almost everyday, I don't see a problem here. But if you do go into a show you may have to take them out, but also be VERY wary of your chin strap, this may sound stupid but if it happens to slip, or if you are putting on your helmet or taking it off it will catch on and rip the piercing out.

Edit~ Oh, you dont even have a lip piercing... I thought you already did.. My mistake. I would think long and hard before getting it because it can really interfere with drinking and eating, it also takes almost 2 1/2 months to heal so if you plan on doing other sports that might not be the best peircing for you. But if you only ride for leisure I dont see any harm in doing so lol, But if it gets infected it will be realy annoying and distracting if you are on a horse.

Well I did when I had mine pierced, but just be careful about getting it caught in anything. If you happen to be showing then you can buy clear plastic studs.

I got my lip pierced three years ago and wear a hoop in it. Since getting it done I have been potholing (caving in squeezes), abseiling, rock climbing, swimming and scuba diving, mountain biking, swum in the sea, and worked at an animal sanctuary walking dogs and socialising all the animals. It hasn't stopped me doing anything and I've never had to tape it up or nothing :)

It can not affect your riding at all! I pierce myself a lot! (Wrist, chest-surface piercings, nose, lip, hand, and hips) if it rejects I just redo it. And the only ones that affected riding were my hand, wrist, hips, and chest-all surface piercings-and I'm sure you know why they affected me. Hand-reins, wrist-movement, hips-sitting on the saddle-mounting, chest-lifting things. A lip piercing won't hurt your ability to ride. If you show then buy clear studs- and makeup can hide the whole if once it heals and you take it out for shows. Be careful putting a shirt on because it could catch it. If you bite your lip it could hurt. But I pierce myself and I can still ride my stallion and gelding everyday.

Getting a lip peircing shouldn't matter at all when riding. But i would put a bandaid or tape over it until you can start taking it out. I would then take it out whenever you ride just in case so you don't get it caught on something or rip it while running and don't notice. Have fun with that!

you could totally ride with it, just keep it clean when you get it done so it doesn't get infected before it heals. try using a band-aid for the first few weeks to keep it clean.

i don't know if you show or not, but just remember that if you do showmanship type classes, facial piercings will not help you in judging, you may be marked down. if you do timed events or pleasure events, then no worries!!

Why would a lip piercing affect your riding? You don't use your lips to ride.
