Am I too big for ponies?

Am I too big for ponies?
So I might start riding these 3 ponies, 2 of them are 14h and one of them is 13h
I am 5'5" and 135pounds....Im not sure what breed they are, but they seem sturdy:P
but I would just be doing light work, like walk trot, and maybe some canter and little tiny crossrails with the two 14h ponies

Am I too big for them? I wasnt asked to ride them, but the owner of the barn mentioned that they are not getting ridden, and I was going to ask if I could possibly ride them
I don't think you are too big for them. But if you are too big you can ride my pony :)
Ur fine my bff rides heer mini's and she's 5'8" an bout the same weight
you wont have any worries unless there 11.2hh and under [depending on breed and how fine they are] 13hh to 14hh are actually more horse then pony

i've ridden many different types of ponies
You should be fine but it depends on what's most comfortable for you. I'm 5'8 and have long legs and weigh about 120 pounds. I can still ride ponies but i don't like to because my feet are well below their stomach and it doesn't feel right to me. Instead, ideal height for me is around 15.3 hands. But have a look at Mark Todd and Charisma, Mark is 6'2 and Charisma is only 15.3 hands and they won two Olympic Gold Medals in 1984 and 1988.

Anyway, back to the point, you should be fine riding those ponies :)

I'm 5'7" 135 lbs and I ride ponies. Its not super comfy to have your legs further than their stomachs but it makes you realize how unsteady your leg can get so it can be a good thing!
Ponies a usually good weight carries so weight probably won't be a problem. What really matters is your leg length and the size of the ponies' barrels. I think these ponies will be fine with you.
I've ridden 12.2hh ponies but I look more then a little silly. Because my legs really are too long for them I can't give leg aids very well and it's not very comfortable.
If you ride them and find that your legs hang too low to give proper leg aids, you can still ride them for exercise, but won;t be able to school them well. Don't ride them if you have to draw up your leg uncomfortably though.
Depends on the weight of the horse and the length of your leg. Horses & ponies typically can carry 15-20% of their current weight. They truly shouldn't go any heavier than that.

As for leg length, if your leg goes down below past the girl and has no contact with the animal's side, there is just no absolute way you will be able to make clear signals to the animal, along with making it difficult to do as it were.
