1 accident leading to...?
my horse was in a pasture with 1 other horse ( my trainers) and when the cold snap hit she took all her horses inside so now my horse is by herself in the pasture. yesterday when i got my horse for a ride i left the gate open since she was by herself. about 20 minutes later my trainer came in and told me that i have to keep the gate shut because there are 2 mares in the pasture now too.... (she had opened up an extra field that is about a 10 min walk from the original pasture... oh yeah and the horses didn't get out). i apologized because she had never told me that she opened up the field... and i didn't realize there were other horses in there now. today i was out visiting my horse and she came in and told me that i needed to start listening to her because one of these days a horse was going to get hurt... pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com
I was confused because i had made sure that i closed the gate but turns out one of the horses actually managed to open it. i tried to explain that i had only left the gate open once and the incident today was NOT my fault. but she didn't believe me...

now i am freaking out that everytime a gate gets left open or a horse gets out that she is going to blame me.
i have always been a good and honest boarder and leaving that gate open was a first miskate i have ever made there so i am starting to over think and get super senstive about getting in trouble now and thinking my trainer thinks i am stupid.
is there anything i can do to make myself look better now... or should i just try my hardest to forget about it?
If it's an option, move barns...if your trainer is blaming you over every little thing she's probably not worth it in the long run.
Or, a simpler situation - sit down with her and explain that she's hurting your feelings by blaming you over the gate being open, when in fact it's the horses opening it. A simple lead rope clasp is usually enough to keep a gate-opener at bay, so I would suggest purchasing something like that as well.

Hope you can get this resolved. :)
I think you are over thinking it. If you've never been any trouble before, I'm sure your trainer will overlook it after it doesn't happen again. Make sure the gate is secure. If it has some sort of latch on it that a crafty horse could possibly open, suggest that you secure it with a chain that goes all the way around the post and gate and a snap instead.
I think you're just being over-sensitive. Your trainer was right to approach you about leaving the gate open the first time. It sounds like she was polite about it, not like she yelled or called you stupid. I can understand why she thought you did it the 2nd time. I mean, look at it from her perspective. First you admit to leaving it open the 1st time, and then the very next time you come to the barn the gate is left open again??? I'd think it was your fault too, even if it wasn't. Now what would worry me is a horse managing to open the gate. Is the latch not sufficient, or is it a really smart horse? You may want to snap the gage closed and also tie a lead rope around it to be doubly sure a horse can't open it again. Just try your hardest to forget it, and be extra careful from now on. Everybody makes mistakes, and I'm sure your trainer will forget all about it in a month or two.
