BARN ONE (where I am now):
I really love the owner, she is soooo nice. But she hasn't been giving my horse her supplements, she randomly changes the feed, the horses are out everyday but not on grass, on round bales, which sometimes have dust.:/I only have one friend there, and the rest of the girls who go there are spoiled, annoying drama queens. The arena is super dusty 24/7. It's 30 minutes away from my house. But the owner has helped me so much.
BARN TWO:
I really love it. There's no little girls so no drama. The arena is huge and never dusty. Board is the same price as the barn I'm at now. It has a heated observation room for my mom so she doesn't need to sit in the cold. All of the stalls have nice walkouts. The horses are on round bales when they're turned out every day. Huge property, lots of trail riding. Round pen, and outdoor arena. I love it there. Its about 25 min from my house.
BARN THREE:
My friend's private barn. 5 min from my house, board would be $ 100 cheaper. My horse would be able to walk out of her stall into the pasture, and back into her stall when she wants. Nice sized arena, not dusty. There would be no drama as it would only be me and my friend. My mom is worried though because she doesn't trust private barns as much as public ones. Such as, what if she doesn't get her horses tested for Coggins and my mare gets it?
I would go for either the second or third barn. I actually just made this decision myself. I think you will find that if you stay at the fist barn your horse will deteriorate and so will your riding. It's going to get to the point that you aren't having fun there any more and are just staying there out of loyalty to the owner. It sounds like you might already be at that point. I would get out of that situation if I were you because you will start learning more and will have more opportunities.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com The second barn sounds wonderful. The only thing that concerns me is feeding round bales - I don't like them because the quality is mixed and there is a much higher change of bacteria or spores or weeds. Just don't like that. I think you could learn a lot there and have a lot of fun. The trails would be great for lazy days and the winter.
I think that the thrid barn would be a really good fit because it is so close to your house. You would be able to ride more and since its cheaper, you could spend more on shows/tack/treats for your horse/save for college . It's fun riding with one friend-you don't need a lot of people.
I wouldn't worry about a privet barn. As long as you draw up a legal agreement for board, you should be jsut as safe there as at a public barn, possibly more so because a lot of public barns are run completely as a business and will try and cheat you (aka, not give your horse supplements, change feed without warning ect - the stuff your current owner is doing) I think you would be best off here, as long as you are sure that your friendship can withstand seeing that much of each other!
I would go to barn 3. Private barns are fine. If your mom insists on being paranoid, have your friend show her the horse's papers.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com You should definitely leave barn one If someone is going to change feed randomly and forget supplements.
Either 2 or 3.
if money and gas is an issue then choose 3.
if you wanna make new friends, choose 2.
Barn 2 sounds good to me.
Personally, I'd go with Barn two.
First, no drama. That's always a plus. Besides, little girls can be a pain sometimes, and having a barn free of them would be, in my opinion, at least, heaven.
Second, heated observation room. Oh my gosh, that's really nice for everyone who comes and watches.
Third, the facility seems really nice, an you horse would be very well taken care of there.
Fourth, you can probably trust these people a lot to take care of your horse. Since it's more public and well kept, there would always be somebody around to help if something goes wrong.
I think that barn two is your best choice, for both you and your horse. Hope this helps!

Happy trails.
If it were me, I would go with barn two.
It sounds like it has nice facilities with good people, which is always a thumbs up. And they have a huge arena, good stalls, trails, heated room, and outdoor arena. It sounds like everybody would be happy!
The barn you are at right now sounds okay, but she technically hasn't been doing her job to give your horse supplements. And the arena is always dusty. And you said a lot of the girls there are snotty and annoying .. which is no fun.
Barn three sounds alright. It's nice that you would get $ 100 off board, and it is 5 mins away from your house. But you are putting your horse at risk, if their horses have anything that would be dangerous to your mare, then I would definitely cross off barn three.
Also, I dont know if I would like having just one other girl there. To me, its more fun when there are more people. But thats just me.
