As you have probably seen my question below, I have another one. My mare is currently hobbling when she walks, I NEED to move my mare as rent is up at old yard. Its litrually 10-15yards up the road. Do you think if she's on box rest for a whole week with leg bandaged and hardly any movement, I'll be able to walk her up to new yard up the road, then she'll have box rest until she's recovered, or will this just cause permanent damage ?
If the new yard is litterally 10 - 15 yards then she should be ok, just got slowly. Make sure she's got some exercise or stable bandages on to help support it. Your other questions says she's done a tendon so ensure the leg has a lot of support and as long as it is literally a couple of minutes walk then she'd be better walking it than trailering it. Let her go really slowly and if she's likely to act up on the road then I'd consider mildly sedating her - you can get a paste from the vets which will help her chill out but won't knock her out. You're better to do this than risk her bouncing around spooking at traffic (depending on how your horse behaves on the road.)
Why is she lame? Why is she on box rest? Why is her leg bandaged? What kind of bandage, which leg, what part of the leg?
