my first canter,,, what to expect?

ill be doing my first canter tomorrow and im nervous & excited

ive been riding now 4 a month and now the sittting trot, rising, and how to halt, trot over poles.

what can i expect?
Congrats, while cantering though relax all of your leg muscles, tighten your reins, and go with the motion of the horse

hope it helps
Wow! I didn't learn to canter until I rode for a year!

Anyway, it's really not as scary as your brain makes it out to be. It's so much fun! Very relaxing. Once you get used to it it's a lot more comfortable and easier to sit than the trot, at least on MOST horses. Your first canter will probably be slow and only for a few strides, and you will most likely be riding a slower horse at first so you might be working hard to get/stay in the canter.

Have fun! And don't be nervous, because it's not scary AT ALL! The only tip I'd give you is when the horse is leaping into the canter they have to put their head down and take one big stride, which will feel a bit extreme at first. So expect it and don't get scared like I did LOL! You'll get used to it though! pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Once again, have fun!
It will be okay. I have been riding ever since I was a little baby, and now have a horse of my own. I have rode out a buck. I have galloped, trotted, cantered, and lots more. And one of the easiest is cantering. at first it's a little bumpy, but then it will start to feel a lot smoother. Good luck.
dont be nervous cantering is soooo fun!!

the first time cantering isnt really that fast or scary.

now galloping is kinda, "heart pounding"

but also fun!

Have confidence in yourself and tell yourself you can do it!!
Cantering is an exhilarating experience! When I do it, I feel as if I am part of the horse, and as if I am flying. You just wait, it 'll be a moment you'll never forget!
It depends on the horse, but usually, the canter is smoother than the trot.

You'll do fine, there's no reason to be worried.
CANTERING-SO FUN

but if the horse is really bumpy-kinda painful
You'll be fine. It's a lot easier than riding a trot in some ways.:)
