So, my horse keeps chewing up his pasture buddy's blanket. We've tried buying a light weight blanket to put over the other horses blanket, but then our horse chewed that one up also. The owner of the horse is getting pretty frustrated and we don't blame her. We've tried "blanket spray" that we bought, that you spray on the blanket and it's supposed to make them stop chewing, but that didn't work ... And then we were gonna buy a muzzle, but then our hourse can't eat hay, because it wouldn't be able to fit through either of the muzzles we found (and they obviously can't eat grass in winter). We're not really sure what to do . They have to have their blankets on 'cause they're both cold-sensitive. Can anyone help, please? We would rather not have to separate them because they're good pals.
There are muzzles that you can get that they can still graze in.
I have both of these for my cribber, with a breakaway halter of course.
This one is lightweight, so I mainly use it. He can still eat hay. A little slower, but that's fine with me because it gives him something to do. The only issue I have with this one is my cribber scraped the aluminum down some , but that's due to him trying to crib. I think it would work fine for your situation.

I also have this one, but it is heavy. It's also pretty big, so it you have something with a petite muzzle, I wouldn't go for it. I don't typically use this one.

There are sprays like "Chew Stop" or "Rap Last" that are specifically made for horses to stop chewing. "Rap Last" especially was developed to keep horses from chewing on the material when their legs are wrapped for injury or protection.
See link below for "Rap Last"
Remember that it may need to be reapplied every few days - especially if it gets wet from rain or snow.
Are they really cold sensitive or do you think they are? Wild horses don't have anyone putting blankets on them and mind don't get blankets either. Our horses eat grass year round so I'm assuming you have a small pasture or even a small paddock for them. (Yes we get snow as well and it gets COLD!) The horse is bored. Give him something to do during the day and put a muzzle on him. He does not need to eat 24/7.
If you don't want to separate them you are just going to have to buy the other owner a blanket. If its your horse doing the destruction, its your responsibility to pay for it. There are other sprays you can try, and like the other person said you need to reapply it often.
Maybe put a old blanket up in the field and cover it in nice tastes and see if she will leave her pasture buddy alone to chew up the old blanket?
