I was just wondering ... is it like normal if you are able to understand your horse and actually ... "feel" it?
Can any rider do that? Connect with a horse that much that you feel like you can read his mind?
I don't know how to explain it but I'll try ...
Well sometimes I get a feeling like that ... for example sometimes I walk with my horse after a lesson and I'm thinking something about the lesson (to myself not out loud) or I'm talking to my horse (yeah, I do that lol) and I dunno but sometimes she looks at me that way, or moves in a certain way that just gives me the feeling like she understands what I say/think, or like she agrees with me.
Like after I had a really bad lesson and pretty much anything that could go wrong did, and I'd walk my horse back to the stables and on the way I'd be half in tears but thinking to myself, or saying to her " ; it's gonna be OK, we'll do better next time "and she turns to me and looks at me like she's trying to comfort me ... like she understands me.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com Or when were riding and I can just feel like she wants to go faster ... and she's not really doing anything to show that ... she's not actually GOING any faster, she's not pulling on the reins or changing her body or speed what so ever ... and yet I can still feel that she wants to go faster!
Or other stuff like that ...
Does it happen to anyone else? Or am I just weird? LOL
Totally. If you haven't seen Secretariat there's a scene between him and his owner like that that was pretty cool.
One example is horses know when they're hurt and you're trying to help them, even if it hurts them sometimes. Last Saturday my horse flipped over and kicked himself in the head and ended up with sand in his eye. He just stood still while I dug my finger in his eye to get the big glob of sand out and then when I was putting pressure on the gash on his head. He gave me that look like "Oh man, that was a bad idea. Thanks for saving me "
I was just talking to someone about one of our stallions. We're going to start standing him in the spring and I just have this overwhelmingly strong gut feeling that his babies are going to be rock stars. It's the same feeling Peptoboonsmal's owner had when she had to decide whether to sell him or this other horse when they were yearlings. Kind of unrelated but we can definitely connect with horses like that.
I'm sure you do feel in such a way, but she isn't doing it herself.

It is natural for the human brain to apply human characteristics to an inanimate object, mammal, or another thing. In this case you're giving her the characteristic of agreeing, or maybe even the characteristic of understanding. Horses can show love, but that's about all. Their brain isn't as complicated as ours.
And the speed thing you mentioned is totally normal. Your just feeling her energy and her vibes. When you're on the back of her it's easy to feel that. I do that all the time.
Hope this helps.
It's completely normal. Humans have bonds with their pets/animals, and sometimes it can be to an extent where they can basically communicate (well, kinda). Your lucky to have such a bond with a horse: ) I sometimes know what is going to happen next, like yesterday i was hacking out with a friends horse, and i suddenly had a feeling that something was going to go wrong. For some reason, i suddenly stopped the horse, and just that second a car swerved out from the corner we were about to pass. It freakin scared me.
