Jeans or Jodhpurs? Or shorts lol?
I'm only just beggining bareback, so any other tips would be helpful.
Anything (: Jodhpurs are to stop you getting sore from the saddle, and as there's no saddle you don't need to wear them. With jeans, the seams rub when you're riding in a saddle, so you can wear them when riding bareback. And shorts are fine too, the only thing I wouldn't recommend is riding in a skirt! Have fun (: x
I always wear jeans for bareback, unless I'm showing in an English bareback class. I find that jeans grip the horse more, so that would probably be easier for you since you are starting bareback. Breeches make the horse feel more slippery, and if they're tan then they get stained much easier than a pair or blue jeans will. I don't like riding horses in shorts because I'm so used to riding horses in long pants, but I don't see why you couldn ' t.
Also, I think that if you are going to take lessons wearing breeches and/or jeans will make you seem like you take the lessons more seriously than if you wear shorts:) Whatever you choose to wear, though, you WILL have a dirty butt when you're done, so really it's up to you!
Whatever's comfy for the weather. In summer in I ride bareback in shorts or jeans, a tank top/tee shirt and boots (or sneakers if I'm going to the creek). In winter it's jeans, waterproof boots and many many layers:) Keep relaxed and stay centered on your horse. If your horse neck reins, grab some mane with one hand and keep your reins in the other. It makes it easier for me to keep my balance if my horse does something funky while bareback.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com I like riding with a bareback pad in summer. It helps keep me from getting sweaty horse butt and thighs. Lol. I like the ones with out stirrups better than with. Plus the pads usually have a grab strap on them which is nice if your horse has a short or thin mane.
Just stay relaxed and loose. Oh, and don't grip hard with you calves ... That's like automatic GO!!!

When riding bare back you should make sure you can feet the horses spine right center of your bottom to no your center.
And make sure that you dont tense your legs other wise you may lose balance more easly.
