Ok so now I feel pretty dumb: P
I'm going to my first show Saturday and my trainer wants me in a walk, trot, canter class and a cross poles equitation class. Then she figured that I'm good enough to do 4 classes i have ridden for 2 years and pretty lame of me to never be in a competition xx!
she's thinking of putting me in Beginner Rider Hunter (under saddle) and beginner rider hunter O/F, 18-24 "
now what the heck does the last two classes my trainer is thinking of me putting me in mean?!?! wow i feel pretty dumb right now ... thank you!
The under saddle class means a flat class where you will w/t/c and the O/F means over fences 18-24 inches. She's doing the right thing for your first show in not "over classing" you to ride against more experienced riders in other divisions or age groups.
Good luck and have a great time!!! And, look at your first show as an adventure rather than a competition and don't be too hard on yourself if things don't go perfectly!!

add ---- perhaps the O/F class is an Equitation class which means that you and your way of handling the horse, turn-out and your position in the saddle, etc. is judged rather than the horse. Although whether pleasure or equitation .... the two of you need to be a team!! You both could make or break each other. ;-))))
The first two classes are equitation, meaning they're judged mostly on the rider .
The second two "hunter" classes are judged mostly on the horse. Under saddle will be walk/trot/canter and O/F is jumping.
I think I rode for 3 or 4 years before I went to my first show.
Under saddle classes are classes like walk, trot, canter classes. O/F stands for over fences, so you will be jumping.
