If you're going to feed it, do it a little at a time. Mix a handful or two in with her regular feed.

If you feed it straight, you may cause laminitis or colic. It's too rich.

No, youngstock require 14-16% protein in their diets whereas an adult horse only requires 10%. Protein is broken down into amino-acids in the small intestine, if too much is fed then it can be passed onto the large intestine which you do NOT want to happen! Immediate effects of this would be colic and tying-up and eventually might cause laminitus.

Don't feed horses diets that aren't specifically tailored to them. If you can even think about feeding a fully grown horse on foal mix then you should speak to a nutritionalist. Ring up a feed company and get them to explain the amount of vitamins, cereals, minerals etc. that he needs for the amount of exercise he's doing because (not meaning to offend) you obviously don't understand it.
It's not the best idea ... foal mix usually has a different balance of nutrients than adult feed because it's formulated to support a growing/developing animal. It probably has more calories & protein for growth, more calcium for bone development, etc. It usually isn't the best food for a fully grown adult. Of course it would depend on what brand it is, what ingredients are in it, what amounts of vitamins & minerals, etc. You could also ask you vet.
ive done it its fine your horse might actually be haelthier from it
