Okay so im about to start out riding .. But for now i guess i will just get a helmet and paddock boots and get half chaps and breeches later on. But what do i wear in place of the breeches? I really dont want to wear jeans because they seem uncomfortable.
Could i wear like sweat pants or something?
If you want something slightly more comfortable than jeans, I would try "jeggings." I work at a full service lesson barn on the weekends, and the instructors have been recommending them to beginners lately. Otherwise, get a pair of schooling tights. They are fairly inexpensive and are a lot like breeches.
If I were you, I wouldn't wear sweatpants as they are thin and slippery. That won't help much as you will be sore after your first lesson anyways. I ALWAYS ride in jeans when I ride except at a show, they are more comfortable than you'd think, and they are tougher than sweatpants so if the saddle does pinch then it wot be as bad. I only wear breeches at a show (first in the English classes, then under my chaps for western since it's faster and they fit better under chaps). Paddock boots are good but in order to keep your heels down you need to work them in or else your heels won't be able to go down at all and Thats no good for your position. Hope I helped and good luck in your riding!: D
Sweat pants are really unrecommended. They are thin and offer no protection from chaffing on the saddle, and can rip or get in the way. Jeans are really comfortable for riding, in fact. Skinny jeans for english riding with paddock boots and half chaps are my favorite. Then I wear long, boot- cut jeans and my paddock boots for western riding.
I never had a problem riding in jeans. Get a pair that's comfortable to start with, not too tight but not so baggy that it gets in your way. Jeans with thin seams on the inside of the leg are better because they're less likely to rub. I rode in nothing but jeans for years and preferred it. Still do if I happen to ride English at home, which is rare.
One word:
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com JEGGINGS!
Like leggings, but made out of a denim material that is heavier (but still is flexible like leggings) and gives you purchase. I bought three pairs at Target yesterday for schooling. They really are spectacular.:)
Jeans are actually quite comfortable i promise the answer above me summed it up:]
all you have to do is either wear skinny jeans and long socks (over them) or leggings with the tall socks the same way
Jeans are the most comfortable thing to ride in in my opinion. I love them!
