My pony has just been put out after 3 weeks box rest as he was going mental.
before the box rest my pony was loving and well mannered in his stable.
After Two weeks of box rest with boredom breakers, lick-its, toys and hay nets. He has developed vicious head shaking weaving and casually crib biting! He was also ok to lead in hand now he attacks me with teeth and try's to kick me and bronking to stay out in the field.
i just need some pointers to get my pony back to the way he was! its really upsetting me.
It sounds to me as if your pony just has a bunch of excess energy from being in the stall for so long. If he is healthy enough to now be in the field instead of in the stall, you can start exercising him some and doing some things to get his respect back. When he tries to bite at you when you are leading him you need to smack him hard, and back him up hard and tell him "NO!". As for the broncing in the field when you are trying to catch him, I would suggest some round pen work where you work on getting him to turn and face you and walk to you. Hope this helps.
the reason why he does this is because uu put him in that crib so he doesnt trust u anymore so u have to gain his trust back by maybe try putting a treat in your hand for him and try to be aas gentle as possible with him!
