the other day i was at my riding lesson, and i was going to ride a new horse. i got on and from the very beginning i was really tense for some reason (i am never nervous around horses and ride new horses all the time) and this horse was really sensitive and was really reacting to this, and she kept speeding up and i panicked and ended up falling off (again, this is new for me, i have retrained ex race horses and their speed never bothered me) and then when i got back on i was trotting around and within 10 minutes i had fallen off again, by the end of the lesson i was cantering and jumping her perfectly so we ended the lesson on a positive note, but i have to say that was probably my worst lesson ever! so what was your worst lesson ever?? or if you want you can comment on my bad riding in this particular lesson lol but dont be mean please
thanx in advance:)
It's okay! No one is perfect! We all have our wierd days where our riding looks terrible, and we loose our balance, and just get downright nervous ... We are not perfect! As my trainer always says "Don't worry about having a bad lesson sometimes ... If you could do everything right, you would not be in lessons! Be nervous, do fall! You need to learn! Have fun!" It is really good that you proved yourself in the end and rode that horse well ... hey and for your first time riding the horse, it's impressive!!: D
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com My worst [private] lesson was with my Dutch Warmblood mare ... The first 15 minutes in trot was great! Then ... I don't know what happend, but she took of in a SUPER fast canter .... she went too fast in the corner and we both fell down together .... We were both COATED in sand ... So I brushed the sand off of us, got back on, and then went back on .. I was completely fine with this, since I love my mare too much to be mad at her ... So ... I was back on and trotting again ... Then she darted into a canter AGAIN!!!! This time she bucked about 3 times. .. I flung onto her neck and pretty much was just giving her a huge hug around the neck while she cantered like crazy ... of course I got her undercontroll ... I free ran her in the hall and then got back on and it was good ... but still ... wow.
I was taking barrel racing lessons at this one ranch and there was one of the 'hands' whom I really didn't like, and she took my original trainers spot for some reason. We accomplished NOTHING, she made me run this horse 30 times, yelled at me when I tipped barrels, the poor horse pratically collapsed, bad enough it was atleast 95 degrees.
I was put on a GREEN horse, and it got really badly spooked, and ended up bucking me off into a puddle of water! I sprained my wrist, and had broken pride for a very long time! I was afraid to even get near a horse until last year! But I am now training my own QH and loving every minute in the saddle!!
Don't let it put you done!! Mine was 3 lessons ago when I was on a horse I was training (still am) and she thought I would look cute on the ground ... and with a bloody arm ahaha, she bolted and my foot got caught in the arena fence and I got torn darn ... ouch ... but I love her, in fact I bought her today! !
I did a 5 day camp and had sleepovers with my friend wednesday and thursday night. i rode a crazy pony who was having a bad day and i was too tired to deal with him. i fell off like 5 times. lots of dirt in my pants: P
My worst lesson ever was probably when i fell off 5 times in one lesson for no reason at all i just kept losing my balance when i was cantering. so don't think yours was as bad as mine. i wasn't even jumping: L
worst lesson would be when i got weight training, my back hurt for a week cuz of that ..
Atleast you fixed it!!

My trainer is actually very nice. She doesn't yell unless you are not listening to her.
There was a collected 5 or forward 4 stride set up and this is when my horse was still a lesson horse, so was very dead to the leg. We had done some great collected 5 strides so my trainer said kick him forward and get the 4 .
I think we attempted the 4 10 times before my trainer had me stop because she didn't want to "punish" him because of my mistakes. Which I totally got, but was really upset because she was screaming at me and mad at myself because I couldn't get it right.
not my worst lesson, but my worst ride was when i was 15 i had a mustang who was very well mannered going at normal easy going trail speeds, but was a real bugger to stop once her really opened up in a full gallop. one day we were racing down this half mile lane with my neighbor and her mustang, i was riding in an old english saddle that was very worn. as we neared the end i began to try to stop my horse, of course he wouldnt so i stood up and planted my feet in the sturrips to gain leverage (which you arent supposed to do, but i couldnt get him to stop so i did) well my stirrup broke and i quickly hit the ground. of course he decided it was ok to stop AFTER id fallen off, so i like an idiot raised my stirrup up to the next setting which was like jockey style, we rode around for a little bit came back to the same lane, and once again like always we raced off, and again when we neared the end i did the exact same thing and the exact same result occurred. that was my worst day on horseback
