we are miniature horse breeders/trainers/showers and some of our stallions are to short to reach the mare, so we have to go outside of the barn to a spot that has a hill, and when the horses start breeding if a car goes by everyone slows down and starts laughing ..... THIS REALLY BOTHERS ME. what is so funny about breeding horses. it is how horses are made ... and people and everything animal. so should we tell the people that slow to keep moving and shut up or ignore them?
It's because some city slickers are immature and don't realize that this is what they are meant to do in the wild to survive. I would just ignore them, people as ignorant as that will just be worse if you say anything.
Lots of professional breeders no longer use actual, sexual insemination. It can be dangerous for both the horses and the handlers. And the problem you are stating may also occur. A majority of professional breeders use artificial insemination for the safety of the horse, handler, and there is a better chance that the mare will become pregnant.

And breeders that are professional don't take their horses to a random hill outside, it's usually done PRIVATELY inside, or somewhere that strangers aren't going to gawk over.
Just remember that for every person who stops there's a car full of small children. It evens out.
A neighbor of mine decided it'd be a good idea to breed their almost-miniature sized pony to her small horse sized mare. They used a table so he could reach ...... Maybe you could try something like that? Although the resulting animal from THAT particular cross is worth even less than his parents were, so who knows .....

Horses breeding isn't a normal "scene" for people who aren't around horses, even people who are but aren't breeders. So again, yes, they will slow down and laugh because it isn't what people are used too ....
well there probably laughing because the horse has to stand on a hill to reach the mare uhmm id tell them to shove it and keep moving theres nothing to see here or you maybe could find a different place to breed them besides a hill were very one can see them sorry if i seem rude or you could get him a step stool
im not an experienced horse breeded well hell ive never even bred a horse but they are laughing because its not everyday you see two miniature horses having sex
Buy two sections of privacy fence, and install them between the hill and the road.
Get them little step-stools so they can reach in the barn:)

That said, here's the deal; huge animals having sex in plain view of the road is so unusual, of course people are going to slow down and look. It's also a free ******* country, and people can do whatever they want, who are you to tell people to go away when you're doing it where it's visible to the public. Obviously you're so used to watching horses getting it on that it doesn't seem unusual to you, but to every other person, it's a pretty crazy thing to see, and borderline inappropriate. Yes, people do it, but they don't do it next to the road. If you're doing this for your ******* business, be a little professional and do it where it's not for all to see. Otherwise, people will laugh and stare, and theirs nothing you can do about that.
