In my opinion, a black horse will look good in any color.
I personally like more flashy colors, but some people like to be more neutral.
Light Blue, White, Purple, Red.
I used to have a black friesian cross, and he was in red and gold-it looked amazing!! Like another person said, not many horses can wear red, so it really stands out.
but now i have beautiful red and gold gear that looks icky on my chestnut: (maybe something to bear in mind if you have more than one, or change horses in the future.
white on black looks VERY professional, just look at dressage riders, but bright, primary clours are much more fun for everyday and definitely aren't as hard to keep clean.
just about anything goes with black, so maybe you can just pick your fave colour and work with that?

white! i love white on black horses. but just think of light based colors. like light blue, light green, light orange. make it pop on that black base! you want to stand out from the crowd! obvously you dont want to get a dark color on a dark horse. black on black just makes it seem like you dont have a saddle pad. and obvously you dont want like olive green or navy blue on ANY horse. those colors just arent on the "taste palate". hope i helped!

If it's a gelding, then lime green. If it's a mare, then hot pink.
Really, it's up to you, any birhgt colour looks good on a black horse, pick one you like!
I like royal blue. It looks good on EVERY horse so if you end up riding another one it still looks good and flashy saddle pads can detract from the overall appearance of your horse.
I personally think Like White?

Purple or red i have a black horse and purple makes her stand out so does red
If your showing-then yellow. It really stands out because not many people use yellow while showing
