Every book I read says that if you watch experienced riders a lot, you'll learn to ride quicker. But I don't know who any experienced riders are (except for John Lyons, and he rides Western). So could you guys give me the names of the best riders?

You don't necessarily have to stick with one rider. Type in rolex on google and you will get the best riders in the world. I suggest watching dressage if you are wanting to work on your equitation. But if you are a jumper it may help you to see other riders styles. Beezie Madden is a great showjumper, although like I said, if you are searching rolex, any rider will be good. Olympics would be another good thing to watch. Although I have to say, some of the cross country riding I saw on 2008 olympics was awful.

ADD: Do NOT watch videos of riders practicing hyperflexion!! It is an awful practice and last I heard it is illegal in most shows.
Well any Grand Prix or Olympic rider, I guess. Everyone has their favorite professionals and it all depends on their style, etc.

show hunter classes - just look up show hunter class - pick some from england/ireland and they'll help lots.
equitation - focus on american vids as the continent isn't really that big into it.
dressage Anky Van Gruesnic is the way to go!
