My riding teacher still wont let me canter?

Ive been riding for about 7 years and im still just doind a jog!! Its so boring and i have to go so slow that the little kids that were in it for like a mouth go faster then me. How can i let her no im ready?

No mean commets please ...
What reason does she give you when you ask her why you're not cantering yet?

You might be riding for 7 years .... but if you only ride once a week, that's 4 times a month, that's only 48 times a year and 336 times total .... and that's if you haven't missed any classes ever.

That's not a lot of riding time especially if you don't have very good balance and need more practice time.

If you haven't asked her and talked to her about it ..... go do that first.

You won't know the real reason until you ask.

If she thinks your balance is not there, she should think about putting you on a lunge line and teaching you about independent seat.
If your teacher isn't letting you canter, she must have a reason. If this is a serious problem for you and you genuinely don't know why she isn't allowing you to canter, then be frank with her. Ask her what specifically she needs you to work on so you can canter and let her know that this is one of your immediate goals.
Sounds like you need to have an honest talk with your trainer. If you want to be going faster, tell her or him. Set goals and milemarkers to get to where you want to be with your riding. Be honest with yourself as well, are you giving it your very best? If you are unable to get a satisfactory response or your trainer still refuses to let you get moving, I would look for a new trainer.
How old are you? Riding how often for 7 years?? If you're riding once or twice a week, gosh, you should have been cantering (or loping) years ago, as in 6 years and several months ago. even people with terrible balance and hands should be at least cantering on a longe line within a few months if they're old enough (as in, over age 6)
Wow! You've been riding for 7 years? I've been riding for half a year, and I'm already loping. You have to talk to your instructor and let her know that YOU ARE READY TO CANTER. But don't be mean. lol. You have to speak up. As long as you do not have a physical or mental disability, you should have been cantering YEARS ago.
i think you should talk to your instructor about this. there is a reason why your instructor is not advancing you ... i worked with an instructor who had to follow insurance guidelines, before advancing her students. maybe this could be part of it?? i would also considering asking if your instructor would allow you some private time, to see what your skill is at all gaits, to see if this could clear some stuff up for you both.
Unless you are physically disabled and at a risk of falling off, you should have cantered years ago. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Ask your teacher why you aren't cantering. If she doesn't give you a plan for starting, or you're not satisfied with the answer, then it's probably time to look for a new instructor.
If you have been taking lessons from this same person for 7 years and are still at a trot this so called teacher has a gold mine and does not care if you ever advance as long as you keep paying for those lessons. My students are cantering bare back after 90 days .
Talk to her, ask her why you can't canter/move on and if she still says you can't, ask how you can improve ...

Don't stress, stay calm.

Have fun and Good Luck: P
let her know that you are ready.tell her how you feel about it ..! Sometimes you have to speak your mind!
Talk to your trainer saying that you think you are ready to continue.
Your instructor has a reason. Talk to her/him and tell them how you feel. That's all you really can do.
