I wonder if I could use a regular sheet to through over Tango as use it as a cooler sheet. I know he'll be fine with it. I did it once and he didn't mind at all. I don't wanna buy a cooler sheet when I can just use a regular sheet 'cause I'm cheap like that. I just want to use it after work when he gets kind of sweaty. Would it be okay, or do I need an actually cooler sheet?
Just a real sheet isn't the material you want in a cooler. Coolers are fleece because they draw moisture away while also keeping the horse warm. Regular sheets don't really do that. If you feel you really need a cooler, you could get fleece from a craft store and make a cooler. You don't really have to cut it to exact blanket dimensions, because lots of coolers are squares like this:

The two cooling sheets I have for my horses I made myself. Basically, I took an old blanket and sewed on the rigging for a front clip, and two clips to go under the stomach. I don't have the need to use a cooling sheet very often so this works for my purposes. And he is not turned out in the sheet ever and is always under supervision when he has it on.

So as long as Tango doesn't freak out if the sheet would blow off (you can do some sacking out with that first), I think it would be just fine. It is still doing the same thing a cooling sheet would.
If you put a regular sheet over a sweaty or wet horse the material will soak up the wetness but will not dry! This will lead to chills and a seriously poorly horse.
A cooler sheet is best as it has wide holes allowing air to circulate and keeps the blanket that you put on top away from damp hair. If you were to put an ordinary blanket on a wet horse it will never dry.
A cooler is breathable where as a normal sheet is not, it will not cool him off properly and he is more likely to catch a chill. You can by sweat sheets and light coolers for fairly cheap and are well worth it.
You need an actual cooler. Coolers and turnout/stable sheets are different in materials and purpose.
Cooler sheets aren't that expensive, and they can definitely be worth it.
Here's a simple short answer,

if he is okay with it when he wears it
then you can use it and it should be fine:)
You should buy an actual sheet, because that is what they are designed for.
If your cheap, get some fleece and make a cooler
