I went to go visit the owner today and she said I could ride this one this weekend to see if I like her or not. I was just wondering if anyone else thinks she's worth 850 $?
Poor skinny mare!
She is worth what YOU think she is worth. To me, any horse under $ 1000 is dirt cheap - but that may be different for other people. Four months ago I bought an eight year old belgian cross mare for $ 800. She had no formal training, no ground manners, was wormy, underweight, and had terrible feet. Now she is worth about three times that. Price can be very relative.
That being said, she is a registered eight year old QH mare. Good size and beautiful color. Her conformation is so so, but with another 300lbs I think she would look fantastic. If she does everything they say she does, I say snap her up!
I would wonder why she would not let you ride her when you were there? will she need a little tune up or a little dope.
If you go to see her get there earlier then your appointment so you can see her caught, haltered, saddled and bridled. Look around if you see very little hay in the area, you will know that he may need to sell her.

You never want to see a horse that has already been warmed up when you get there.
It is a pretty poor picture to judge a horses conformation by! She does look like she has missed many meals and needs someone to buy her and feed her.
I only judge a horse by how they are broke and what their disposition and conformation is. If I am buying a horse for someone to enjoy, I don't really care what the breeding is.
But there are a few bloodlines that I will stay away from.
If you go to see her watch the owner, trainer ride her and then try her out yourself.
Ride her both inside and out the arena. A lot of horses will work well in a arena and then try to take you to the barn if they are not well trained. Really give her a good try and not just at a walk or trot.
Like most others have said she does need a little weight and maybe some muscle but thats not to hard to accomplish if she's healthy. I would definitely go take a look!! $ 850 is not a bad price in my mind. If you go and ride her and fits your abilities and what you want out of a horse i would definitely scoop her up!!
The owner gives you next to no info, and the horse is extremely underweight/drawn up. Photos are also terrible . The owner also feels the need to TELL YOU HOW GREAT THIS HORSE IS IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE SHE THINKS IT MAKES HER MORE BELIEVABLE.

Honestly, unless you want something to just ride for fun/on trails, I would pass on this one.
I looked at both picks, she does not really look thin except on the top, but she has a very high wither which leads me to believe she may have a saddle sore at the wither and if she has it will always be a problem and can turn into a real problem as they tend to get bad infection at the withers when it is open or raw, look to make sure she has not had a sore anywhere around the wither, those things they call Fistulous Withers, and a lot of horses have to be put down because of the infection in the neck, we had a mare that had fistulous withers and she had to be treated every week by the vet for 6 weeks then she was turned loose in the pasture for 6 months but she survived and turned out good, but most of them either die or have to be put down. This is common with high withered horses, if she has not had a saddle sore she is well worth $ 850 if she rides ok.
She's defineltly worth $ 850. Most horses that are at this point in there training (at least where I am) are at least $ 1500 if not more! The only think that worries me is she looks a little thin. Other than that, she looks like a great mare with a kind eye and great color.
I think she needs some more weight, that's for sure. She needs muscle too . I've learned that you cannot judge a book by it's cover, and people will twist words around. She appears to be a great mare, despite the previously stated, and definitely worth a look!
why to skinny: (and for 850 there is probably something the owner int saying. I just bought a 3 yr old never cantered before, for 10, 000 and the breeder gave me a deal.: P
All I think is that the horse will be a big project to work on.

And I think that-maybe-she is worth the money see how you go riding her:)
Have fun and Good Luck:)
