Ok so right now I have mild osteoarthritis, I can still ride no problem with some pain meds and anti-inflamitories. I know it will probably get worse over time so does anyone have any experience of this? With treatment will I still be able to ride dressage like normal? Thanks in advance!
Yup - you may need to adapt but you will as you go. I had severe arthritis in one ankle and moderate in the other following a major injury to both a couple of years ago. I've just had more surgery to fuse one as the pain was causing problems with riding. I've had to slightly adjust my leg position but the horse adapts quickly. The other thing I've found helps is using flexible stirrups - they are the ones with the rubber and they move and take some of the shock involved. I've found I'm limited in how long I can ride as I get sore if I ride more than an hour or so. One of the biggest things is getting off - because it's both ankles the landing is hard so I use the saddle to control how quickly I land.
As your condition worsens (and this may take years) you will adapt and find ways around the things that cause you problems, but I've never yet found something I couldn't do with the right adaptations.
WIth proper treatment you should still be able to ride as much as you feel you can. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and my friends mom as well, she has been raising, riding and showing horses for years with her disease, some days are slower than others obviously lol. I hope you get the right treatment and enjoy many days pain free to ride:)

its upto you but just start off with short sessions i find it easier to make sure i get past my morning stiffness then do gentle stretches then the horse riding then come home to a nice warm bath it seems to work with me i must admit i have a bit of a struggle to get on the horse but once im on im on lol
Ride what?? Motorcycles, bikes, horses? I have osteoarthritis too. I take CH-Alpha as recommended by my doctor. And take Glutamine powder . Throw some in a protein shake. Light weight training. good to build the supportive muscles around. Google CH-Alpha joint regeneration. A month supply is $ 40.
yes you should be able to maybe even consider a gaited breed then you can continue no matter what and be completely comfortable ... Walkers are awesome horses for this and I believe the walker shows have special dressage shows you can enter
