do you need half seat for this short of a jump?

it is litteraly 5 - inches high!!! i am starting to jump. do i need half seat, im making an obstical coarse and this is in it, im doing it with my instructor, but before i want to practice. i am going to trot over it
You are better off to do your half seat or jumping position from the beginning. You will get more comfortable with it as you get to higher jumps. This will help fix any problems in your position when the jumps are still small.
i doubt that the horse will actually jump it, probably just trot over it, do practice your half seat though, practice your timing, your position so you won't have a mistake when you get to bigger jumps.
Hi, well to be honest at 5 inches I doubt the horse will actually jump over it, they'll probably just step over but it still doesn't mean you can't practise your half seat or full jumping position while your at it. Hope this helps good luck!
I don't think the horse will actually "jump" over it but for EVERY jump go into your half seat. So you can even practice over the little jumps for the big jumps .
The horse will probably just step over it. For the first few times use a half seat, but then when you're comfortable you can sit it (I've sat 18 "before ... scary stuff XD) Good luck!
