We had a freak accident today at the barn and one of our senior geldings ended up tearing his lower eye lid. Can anyone show me a diagram of where the tear duct is on a horse? It's only a little bit of flesh and we would cut it off but we don't want to accidently cut a gland.
Btw the vet was hard to get ahold of and won't be able to be out there until tomorrow. We washed it and he is being stalled for the night (normally in a paddock with a run in).
I would watch him and sleep withhim in thye barn and if yourfreaked by the barn ask a friend or family member to go with you and wait ti'll the vet comes by the way hope it goes great and what's his name?
Its best to wait for a vet. In case it does not need to be cut off.
also if he moves while your cutting it off there could be a nasty accident
If he isnt in pain wait for the vet
If he is go to an emergency clinic

If he is calm about it, I would just wait for the vet. You could give him a bit of bute to help keep him more comfortable over night if he needs it.
