I have heard this before but I don't know what it means. Thanks!!
It means that when a horse is badly injured or sick (for example with a strained tendon in his leg) he needs to stay in the stable 24/7 and not be moved out, not even for mucking out! So many people think that the horse can be moved outside the stable and this is not so. He is not supposed to be moved out. You need to muck out around the horse, with him still in the stable.
Some horses will find this difficult and the thing you need to do is to keep him entertained. A cheap way to do this would to be to hang a swede up in the stable on a piece of string and he would be able to play with this to get a bite out of it. Radios, stable mirrors, likkit balls etc are other forms of distraction that you could try. And lots of tlc. A good grooming - unless the horse has a temperature and some time and company from you, the owner, goes some way to help. Many horses can get depressed or ill tempered. This is to be expected, but box rest/stall rest, call it what you will, is not chosen lightly!
It means that a horse has to stay in a stall without being able to be turned out into a pasture for a determined amount of time (I currently have a horse that has to be in a stall for 8 weeks), usually due to a surgery or injury. During this time , a vet may want the horse to be hand walked, where a person walks the horse around for it to get some exercise. It keeps the horse from moving too much so they heal quicker.
it means just what it says they are to stay in their stall and are not allowed to exercise at all unless it is an in hand exercise so they do not hurt them selves. They are usually put on stall rest after a medical procedure or operation.
it means that they have to be kept in their stall for a designated amount of time.
pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com usually if they got hurt, are lame of just had surgery.
it means the horse is resting with no exercise or pasture acess> GOOD LUCK!
I think it means that it is hurt and can "t run around so its resting in a stall
:)
It means he has to stay in his stall until he is sound again.
