i want to go on a trail ride today but my farrier didnt finish putting on my horses shoes because of the rain so now he doesnt have any and i wanna be able to gallop on the trail. should i wait till my horse has shoes?
no! it is not okay to ride a horse with no shoes not unless you are an Expert i had road a horse myself with out shoe now look at i had broken a ankle cause i did not had shoes if i had shoes my ankle would not be broken it would hurt but not be broken like how it is still right now so think about do u want to like me yes or no if no i now you be a smart person PS this is a very true story don't get yourself get hurt be a smart kid/person hope i help,?:)
Maybe that would depend on how far he had gotten with the shoeing?? If he had the hooves all ready leveled ready to put on the shoes and the horse has a thin short wall on the inside of his hooves, they may wear down to the point that he would have to level them again and probably make him tender by taking off too much of the sole to level it again.

But if he still has a lot of hoof left it would be ok to ride him it is on soft non rocky ground. Rocky ground will chip his hooves.
I'd wait.
You said it was raining and you want to gallop. If it was muddy and everything on the trails it would be unsafe to gallop anyway, but I DEFINITELY wouldn't it your horse doesn't have shoes (and he's used to having them) .
If you really wanna ride him, just go out for a light hack or something and wait until the farrier comes to gallop.
Trails are usually hard and sometimes rocky so I WOULDN'T go galloping your horse on a hard trail if he is used to having shoes on. As he could easily step on a rock and get stone bruised so you wouldn't be able to ride him. Or his feet could get really sore. So I would just walk him on soft spots or weight until he has his shoes done.
if it's okay to ride the horse it's probably okay. just don't walk the horse on hard trails. try just walking on grass.
