well i learnt in a saddle, which i actully regreat doing i had such a horrible seat for a long time and being in a saddle made it harder for me to correct beacuse i had support of the seat i found it easyer to correct where i had no support and i needed to balance propley and my legs moved around to much
so once i got my first pony who i broke in i had limited funds so i didnt bother about a saddle [i dont reccomend it i have a little bit to much confidence thank god my pony was very patient i wouldnt say quiet .... ] she fixed me i learnt to stay on keep my legs in the same spot, toes up we learnt together i was a begineer [riding wise not care:)] we never had lessons, but i always took advice form friends and watched everyone else ride
i was so lucky to be given her we both are exzackly the same:) anti-social and lots of moodswings at the same time ... haha she was actully a rescue pony who was 10 at the time i've had her for a year and 4 months she's taken me so far
i have now got a saddle 4 months ago: D i rarely use it the people who come ride my pony for lessons use it more then i do

as i do a bit of riding lessons now i teach everyone bareback they have to earn there saddle and the stirups
so yeh i ride bareback neally everytime i jsut wished i learnt to ride bareback before put into a saddle:) i dont need a saddle and dont really care anymore
My trainer believes that one must be 'one with the horse' to REALLY ride (which is sssooo true), and that means I end up riding bareback often. It's fun.
Riding bareback with the reins tied (no hands) is also a blast! You learn to control the hose with your body movement/position. Definitely would not recommend this to a beginner, but taking small jumps that way the first time was one of the best days of my life!! To feel and see the horse take directions was magical. Loved it!
I don 't think learning bareback is a good idea for the horse's sake ... do you know how bad for their backs it must be to have a beginner without any seat at all flopping around up there?
If you're taught how to ride properly with a saddle, you can develop a very good seat.
Not oflen but sometimes, can take all gates perfectly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...
I didn't learn, I just did it, after pc camp when I was younger we had bareback games, galloping, bending, musical chairs and stuff :)
i learnt to ride bareback on shetland ponies that i ride in lessons once a week, we had to earn our saddles and then stirrups and at the start of each term the first lesson back is bareback for everyone

i ride my tb bareback when i cant be bothered with the saddle and stuff
i love riding bareback, i rode him bareback today acctually
we did some jumping: P
people say horse riding makes them happy and free, its dangerous but you love it and trust the horses
riding bareback doubles all the happiness and freedom, the danger, the love and the tust
so why wouldn't you
: P
I learned to ride bareback, and for me, that was the ONLY way to go! I still prefer to ride that way, with just worn-out jeans, or with a bare-back pad!
I love riding bareback too, but not on my fave pony, owwwwwwwwwwww it hurts, he is not that high withered but his trot is soooooooooooo bumpy, much bumpier than any horse i ever rode, and his canter is like a trot except you hit your butt harder, he takes ultra short strides ultra fast. but i Absolutely love jumping bareback, chocolate is the best jumper in the barn, my instructor call him a tiny pony with a huge jump, he's jumped 6 ft before and he's at most 12hh. hes amazing, so is colleen but she is scared of poles and i love jumping ...

jumping no stirrups is amazing, never jumped bareback but i have jumped no stirrups a lot, cause we don't do a lot of bareback in my lessons. im riding the comfiest horse in the barn you can ride bareback next lesson, hope we ' re doing bareback. my fave horse/ponies are chocolate (I LOVE YOU CHOCOLATE!), colleen (amazing pony, love her, first jump done on her, second canter on her, first canter without falling off on her) (ultra smooth canter , smoothest in barn, like floating on a cloud, LOVE YOU COLLEEN!) and emma (awesome horse, will canter 2 laps after jump before going back into trot, first time riding her, she squished my foot cause she wouldn't stop cantering and there is a huge crowd after the jump, LOVE YOU EMMA!) emma is actually my 2nd favourite compared to colleen and chocolate.i love ponies, they are sooooooooo sweet, innocent and amazing, ponies have amazing potential (so does horses, but i love ponies more).
I some what learned how to ride from my neighbors with a saddle cause it was their horse. though when we bought my first horse from them I rode him until I got comfortable with him with a saddle, then i ditched the saddle completely. I did the same with the mare my parents got me and rode her bareback with in the first month of owning her. I love ridding bareback, I often don't even worry about a bridle and just grab a couple of lead ropes to hook to her halter.I can guarantee she is and was the best horse anyone could ever want. She's put up with me ridding her in the fields while the other horses are running a muck, she's put up with me ridding down to the fence line with a noisy bucket of tools bare back, hell I've even ridden her down to feed one of our other horses (though she wasn't too happy about that one, but that's what she gets for eating all her food so quickly xD) She's only spooked once, maybe twice in her whole life with me, I've ridden her past a 4-5 foot snake I didn't even notice was there till I looked down she even let me take a picture of it with my phone. most of this happened before she turned 3. (Guy at the auction that we got her from said she was 3 - 3.5 when she was really 2 if we where lucky)
