What age should I buy my horse at?

I want to get a horse that is already trained. I also want it to be able to handle agility courses pretty soon after I get it. Also I need to know if a male or female would be better for agility courses or does it matter?
The only time the gender of the horse comes into play is if the mare is in heat, if so she is moody and some times hard to handle or just plain stubborn. A gelding on the other hand does not have those days so I would buy a well trained gelding about 8 to 12 years old.
No offense but do you really have business in buying a horse if you have to ask these questions?

No, sex does not matter whatsoever in a horse's athletic ability.

Horses are usually/typically in their athletic prime between the ages of 6/7-late teens.

IMO you need a lot of riding instruction and basic horse knowledge training before you buy a horse. You need to know the responsibilities a horse REALLY entails.
Gender doesn't matter that much! If it is well trained and you ride will enough to ride it right you will do ok. If you just going to occupy space on the horse and so not ride very will all the training in the world would just go down the tubes along with you.
For a well trained horse who you can just enjoy and have some good years out of, I'd look for something at least 8 years old up to about 13. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Gender will not effect how the horse goes, personality is a million times more important.
Gender doesn't matter - but mares in season can become quite moody. Also i wouldn't recommend stallion unless you intended to breed ..

you'll need a horse that has been there done that. generally about 8-10 + but it depends on the individual horse:)
The gender of the horse will not affect it's performance.
just have to look and test, around ten if you want already trained

gender doesn't matter
