What barn would you rather go to? And why?

  Barn A:

all horses in stalls, some have tack on already (they keep it on in their stall)

you get there 5 minutes before your lesson, all you do is put the bridle on

you mount up with with no mounting block

the instructor isn't nice but tells you everything you need to work on

and then throw the horse back into the stall with the saddle still on and leave

OR

barn b:

all horses are in fields, you can either catch them or ask for help to catch them

you get there 20 minutes before your lesson to groom, tack up, and get in the ring

you use a mounting block to get up

your instructor is nice and and gives you constructive criticism

and when you are done you untack, groom, horse if nesscary, and let the horse out and leave

One is my barn, one is my friends ...

opinions
Barn A sounds like the snotty english barns where people want comfort for themselves, want to just treat the horse like a machine ... get on, ride IT and put IT back in the stall. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

No relationship.

Who cares about the horse as long as IT makes the rider look good.

No thought about the horse's well being .... only for the human.

A real pathetic barn and sad existance for the horse.

Barn B

Obviously the barn where the horse comes first .... he's in a more natural place, he's more well adjusted and treated like a horse, not like a machine.

An all around better learning (you actually LEARN about the horse, not just about how to sit on him).

I hope you're in Barn B and I hope your friend wakes up to discover that Barn A really sucks.
I like the sound of barn b better. I like how you would have to groom the horse before you ride, it's important to learn how to groom a horse properly and should be taught at any barn. I don't like how 'barn a' just leaves the saddles on the horses and puts them back in the stall, one of my friends did that once for five minutes, while she got the phone, and the horse got the stirrup caught on something and wrecked the leather trying to pull away.
I vote Barn B also. Not sure you should have to go out into the pasture with other horses to get your lesson horse (I do not believe this is safe for a beginner, or even part-timer), but you should learn to groom, tack, untack, etc. Nice is nice too, as long as you are learning, not just getting baby sat.
Well, B of course. I'm sure that's your barn, or else you wouldn't be asking this question with an obvious bias towards barn A. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

Some people like not having to do anything but ride the horse, but you are really not learning what you need to learn that way.
Barn B seems like a much more natural and caring enviroment for the horses also you'll learn a lot more from the things you have to do and the friendly instructor.

happy horses + happy instructor=happy you: D
Barn B. You should be responsible for grooming and tacking up your own horse. Also you will learn much more in a friendly supportive environment than with an instructor that never has anything nice to say. Barn A just seems way too impersonal.
The second barn sounds a lot better. It sounds like the horses are treated better and you get to help look after them yourself which is teaching you how to look after a horse properly.
Barn b-It sounds like they actually care about the horses

It is cruel to leave the saddle on all the time
ummm definately B, and if a is your friends at A get her to change now!!! A sounds horrible, i love the sound of B
I would choose barn B. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

If someone really loves horses and wants to learn to ride and wants to get as much experience and knowledge they can from where they go then they should want to do the other tasks involving horses such as the grooming, catching, tacking up before riding and untacking afterwards and all the others as well. I don't think it is right to leave the horse in the stall with the saddle still on. It prevents the horse from having time without the saddle on. Also with the first barn you don't actually learn how to catch, tack up etc. and just returning the horse to the stall then driving away. I wouldn't be able to do that (against my morals). I would make sure the horse has feed, clean water, clean bedding, and untack and groom it before i leave and when i get there i would groom and tack it up because i don't mind putting a bit of extra time in because as i said earlier if you love horses then it won't bother you at all it will actually let you stay a bit longer at your barn with the horses before you have to leave. As for the mounting block or no mounting block situation i don't think it really matters you should be able to use both because i am really short and if i ride a taller horse i will mount from this tree stump at my barn and if on a shorter horse i can mount from the ground whichever i want to do. As for the instructor they should give you both constructive criticism and also tell you what you need to work on so that you know. If it was the barn i was going to i would choose barn B without hesitation barn A doesn't seem to be such a nice place for the horses or riders to be .
