Ok so I rode my horse today with the saddle and bit, every time I asked him to go forward he would go in little circles and occasionally do a little buck, is this because of the bit? I haven't used a bit on him in a while so is it because of the bit? It is a loose edge bit. Or his saddle? How do I check it??
one of my friends came up with the idea that maybe some horses dont like the taste. so try rubbing it with applesauce!!
I have purchased all different ages of horses and used many different kinds of bits and have never put a bit on a horse and had the thought that the horse did not like the bit or respond to it.
I think it would more likely be the way you are handling the reins. You should have not permitted him to go in circles and you should have made him go forward.
If you keep letting him disobey you you will soon be crying that you can't handle the stupid horse.
If you normally don't ride with a bit and then he acts up, then its probably the bit. If you want to check, then just ride without the bit and if hes fine, then it is the bit.
If he's usually well behaved until you put the bit on, then it's most likely that he doesn't like the bit ~

EDIT: To check it, just use a bit he's more used to and see if he acts better (:
