I have changed my horse diet a few weeks ago and have seen that the nutritient isnt sufficient so ive gone back to his old diet. Before though when he was eating mainly bermuda grass he started taking large chunks of wood off of his barn is that a problem can he get sick?
Is he eating wood or is he cribbing? Both are dangerous, as they can get splinters in their stomach. If he is clamping onto the wood with his mouth and sucking at the same time, he's cribbing . I would put a cribbing collar on him. If he is just knawing on the wood, I would paint something nasty on it. You can buy things in catalogs and/or stores, or you could just put pickle juice on it. Question title typo too hilarious ........ Must regain composure ...
Anyway there is a great selection of products out there to prevent a horse from cribbing and it should work in this instance as well. They won't cost too much and they should stop the problem.
As long as your horse isn ' t able to do this long term, there really is no harm in it. They do sell sprays to keep horses from chewing. Although some horses could care less and will chew right threw it.
