What are some of the biggest mistakes you see people make wi

For example, people who think that cranking their horse's heads until it looks like they're on the bit, and thinking that doing so makes their horse collected, and working in a frame.

So, what are mistakes you see people make? What are the consequences, and what do you think should they really be doing instead?
Over-estimating their own skills and abilities and then blaming it on the horse. People really need to learn how to swallow their pride and call for help. Yes, trainers are expensive but what right does one person have to assume they know and then end up ruining their horse just because "Everyone starts somewhere" or "I read it in a book so I know what I'm doing. "

Asking for help is doing nothing more but creating a win-win scenario for both horse and rider. The horse is taught correctly and the rider will know what they're doing for the next time.
I see two big mistakes people make when they are owning a horse or training it.

-When people are training a horse, they sea-saw on the horses mouth so they put there head down, which it works, don't get me wrong, it looks horrible and about 4 years that horses mouth is going to be rubber and they will not be able to have any control pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

-When people are owning a horse, they don't come up enough to care for the horse, they expect to take the horse out and ride every 4 weeks and the horse is going to be quiet and the horse bucks and they fall off, its not fair for a horse to not get exercised and expect to be perfect and sit and look at the four walls in a stall all day and not be brushed or be loved, I just think its cruel and its just messing up horses to watch them sit. BUT there is some people's what they have to do, but if that's what they have to do they have to consider what is best for the horse and take responsibility, giving him away, leasing or paying someone to ride and care for the horse .

I hope this helped.
The biggest mistake I see (drives me so crazy I even did small clinic or our local 4h) is people yanking on their horses mouth to get them to back.

It drives me crazy. The horse's mouth is open in pain and you don't get a balanced back at all. The horse has way to much weight shifted onto their hind end. If you have a horse who is naturally light in front it is easy to pull them into a rear.
Disciplining their horse for a mistake they made. 99% of the time it is rider error not the horse and it infuriates me that the poor horse is just doing what he is being cued to do -it 's the cue that's wrong. pets question and answers,www.5d2d.com

What they need to do is put pride aside and evaluate what they are doing-however some people are so pig headed that that will never happen.
When I go to horse shows I see all kinds of people punch their horse on the soft part on top of the head (the poll). I saw a horse go by the rail once and there was meat hanging off his face from being beaten.

The show world can be cruel. I think that the stupid people running the show need to say something since they were sitting right on the other side of the ring but whatever I suppose. At least I don't treat mine like that.
Making a mistake twice.

Everyone makes mistakes, and I don't judge anyone by a mistake they've made - but when people make a mistake, know they've done so but then do it again anyway that's when I get irked.
I think that one of the biggest mistakes people make is having the thought that equines think like humans and that they can reason with them.

I agree with you about 'head set' when they are on a horse.
Firstly buying horses that are way too much for them to handle. Then not admitting it and selling it on. Going on to having a road accident and blaming the poor driver who's only mistake was to be in that place at that time.
Feeding a horse too much or too many supplements making them wired for 440!! Then they try to figure out what went wrong when the horse just has too much energy and the rider/owner is fighting the horse all the time.
Using Parelli. They ruin the horse. They should use common sense instead.
